Morning all: Here's to a good week for everyone. Check out latest pages of last week's thread to see great pix by OG of a kestrel on a road sign and a signpost for migrating birds and Gary's photos of the lovable Toffee plus his Toffee-proof technology. Just had dinner and managed to turn perfectly lovely piece of halibut into shoe leather! Hate it when that happens, but was busy watching weather forecast. Desk is looking cleaner - can actually see the surface now. Take care all!
Annette: I'm watching a TV program right now that I thought you might enjoy when it comes on in your area later. It's on the National Geographic Channel and is called The Truth Behind the Nevada Triangle. The triangle stretches from Los Vegas to Fresno to Reno, and 2,000 planes have crashed or otherwise disappeared there since 1962, including Steve Fossett's (the record-breaking aviator). For those who don't know: This triangle of land is half the size of England and is famous for Area 51 (reported site of alien technology!), military bases, strange atmospheric conditions, extraordinary turbulent weather, and the towering Sierra Nevada mountains. It's often called the Extraterrestrial Highway. :-))) Many pilots talk about feeling very disoriented there. The show isn't wacky; mostly interesting discussion and photography of the landscape and conditions there, Annette.

Back later to catch up with everyone! Have a good weekend, all!
Edit: By the way, how is it that you lot all have crocuses, daffodils, and ants, and I stll have a garden full of ice and snow? Humph! You're further north than I am! Okay, you can keep the ants, but still... :-)
1 migrant osprey flew over the migration watchpoint of Meysse in France today. Because this particular watchpoint is in eastern France this is more likely to be a German bird but it does prove that they are on the move.

Margobird We have 4 dogs - they holiday with us. Just needs a bit of organisation and, of course, British hols unless you are prepared to go down the Pet Passport route.
Just logged on to catch up and saw your post Annette. It won't let me post the webcam link but it is the South Georgia webcam and for the African one it is: Africam. Always Live and Wild from African waterholes 24x7 Just look them up as they wont let me copy the link and not really sure how I should do it.
Of course you don't want weeds now that you have had your garden makeover. Do hope it is giving you a lot of pleasure. Looks like you're in for it in California, at least Miss Molly is tucked up, I take it that is a horse.

RSPB Giving Nature a Home
Bathroom extractor fan now ordered online. Also tidied up settings of my IE8 to receive current info on some sites where I was not receiving latest updates (such as Big Rig Steve’s videos and Loch of the Lowes Blog)
Dibnlib – I think most of my losses by not chasing lent items have been books – there was one trilogy where I lent out one, never got it back, recycled the other two and then replaced the whole set when I saw them together second hand! OH does duvet covers here - I find my reach is inadequate to shake them out properly, not to mention difficulty actually holding them.
Diane – sorry you still have ice and snow – but think of all the little shoots keeping warm under there and bursting through later!
Not even trying to go to church tomorrow morning because there is an evening service this week, which we prefer. Hope we might get out in the garden after breakfast – if not, we’ll be cleaning the fridge-freezer – well, I’ll be supervising and trying to remember where the shelves go back after washing!
Just seen how late it is – Goodnight all!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Well, some of you have been busy. Did ironing, and baked a cake this morning. Afternoon spent chilling out and doing some ancestry research. Had a takeaway tonight with dau (chinese) and OH had his usual chip meal.
Off to church in the morning, Junior church duty, then home , dinner and chill.
OG - glad son got back safely and hope he enjoyed being spoiled by mum.
Alan - thanks for the links and nice to hear the ospreys are on the move.
Going to look at the webcams now - bit late so might not catch anything.
Just a couple tonight: Mrs Norfolk (light is fading) and Decorah looking snow covered.
Starting new thread.
Morning everyone, and what a beautiful one it is - so far. The golden orb has shown its face and the cloud is high and whispy. I saw a skylark rise from the field and three buzzard were soaring on thermals above the house. AND England won their match against the French yesterday! Yahay. I will settle down to watch Scotland this afternoon. Sadly (I ought not to say that really) I will miss the Calcutta Cup as for the fourteenth year running we are off to Switzerland - OH takes part in an international X-country ski marathon. I have a dilemma with this particular match as I was born in Scotland and can happily support both England and Scotland until they play each other when loyalties are divided!! I remember being at Twickenham, a lone voice cheering Scotland when England trounced them!
Lots of pics, chat and links once more. Thanks to you all! I hope you enjoyed your pizza Lindybird. A little bit of dirt hasn't hurt me over the years!
I know what you mean Margobird when you talk about your bookmarks toolbar groaning! I do file them, but it is so much quicker to 'scroll' to the toolbar! Sorry to hear that your sister has lost her hair, and so quickly. But she is obviously putting on a very brave face.
George Have a great lunch with your family. I am sure they will fall in love with Diesel!
dibnlib Bad luck at Chanory - and I am sure it is luck whether or not you see the dolphin, but as you know, when you do it is unbelievable how close to the shore they came. OH took some splendid photos last time we were there - one in hundreds is good, I hasten to add! I loved your tip for the duvet cover and pegs. Must give it a try.
Wendyb now, cars and mud. I am an expert! I live up a single track road and down a farm track all of which is very well used by muddy farm vehicles and it is almost not worth my while cleaning the car at this time of year! Our friendly farmer is at last trying to fill in the track for us. Over this dreadful winter the ridge in the middle has become likely to touch the bottom of low slung vehicles (not ours I hasten to add) with the tyre tracks getting ever deeper and the pot holes getting larger. He is going to fill and level it right down to the ditch where it is a quadmire with holes and then put road scrapings on top. OH says he will hire a roller to pack it all down when we get back from hols. It will look the smartest it has been in the 24 years we have been here!
Annette I do hope the Canadian storm is much weakened by the time it reaches you. Take care. Edit I see it passed you by, thank goodness, but the low temps must come as a shock.
Lindybird have a great time in the Canaries. I've never been, but know folk who have, and who have returned. Lovely to see such a healthy fox so close to you!
OG so glad you had a great time with your son. I will have done you both good!
Trish I smiled at your description of dog training lesson! OH has clearly learned his lesson well!!
Diane I have not heard of the Nevada triangle. Perhaps it is similar to the Bermunda triangle, famous or infamous for the sinking of ships.
Off to the garden now and then back for the rugby. Happy Sunday to you all.
