Weekly Chat, Sunday February 20, 2011

Morning all: Here's to a good week for everyone. Check out latest pages of last week's thread to see great pix by OG of a kestrel on a road sign and a signpost for migrating birds and Gary's photos of the lovable Toffee plus his Toffee-proof technology. Just had dinner and managed to turn perfectly lovely piece of halibut into shoe leather!  Hate it when that happens, but was busy watching weather forecast.  Desk is looking cleaner - can actually see the surface now.  Take care all!

  • Sheila and Alan: I've watched Primeval from the beginning and I love it! I so wish they would bring back the Helen Cutter character (played by Juliet Aubrey). She was so wonderfully wicked, and I thought she added interesting science/philosophy to the show. I love the Terror Birds and want one to live in my garage. LOLOLOL

  • Hello everyone - Thank you all for the pics, posts, links and Monday smiles!

I am trying to keep in the background because I get so frazzled wanting to reply to everyone, not leaving anyone out , plus of course, my well known addiction to this site.

Since creeping back in I am following as best as I can and am sending my best thoughts to you all.

  • Margo - There is a Spar in Nethybridge which will be probably just under 4 miles away.  There is another shop in Boat of Garten, maybe about 2 miles away.  Tesco is in Aviemore which is about 10 miles from Nethybridge so less to where you will be. There are buses between Aviemore and Nethybridge I think and Boat of Garten. I've never volunteered though - yet - so can't help with what other supplies you need.

Edit: it did try very hard to snow but everywhere is just too wet and it didn't manage to settle.  Home safe, thank you.

  • Hello Heather B don't worry about not posting to everyone, it is quite hard to keep up at times.  Nice to see you popping in now and again when you have time.

  • Hi all:  Just back from the gym where we have an old-fashioned scale (like in the doc's office) and an electronic one. Typically, I weigh the same on both, but today I weighed 1.5 pounds more on the electronic one!  Then, when I came home, I piled on the bathroom scale and weighed 2.5 pounds more than on the electronic one!!  Something's fishy somewhere.  The moment of truth will come when I try on my pants (sorry, trousers).

Sheila: Thanks for that link. I also heard that the Japanese whaling fleet has cancelled its 2011 season allegedly because of the very aggressive efforts of the Sea Shepherd and her crew.

Margo: Give OH huge hug - how nice to know he's getting closer by the minute!

Off to hose down before lunch and then out the door again.  Garage guy is coming at 3 this afternoon.

  • Trish 2 thanks for that info all very useful as I have only ever been as far as Edinburgh.  Going to be a whole new experince in many ways for me.

Glad the snow didn't come to anything and drive home was safe.

  • Margo - another thought.  Assuming it's still happening (it was in November when we were there) there's a chippy van does the rounds of the villages.  It's in Nethybridge on Mondays and Boat on Thursdays.  I can really recommend Haggis and chips though I know it's not everyones cup of tea!

The scenery will take your breath away.

  • Hello everyone have enjoyed catching up...so much after not logging on for a couple of days. Loved the Monday smiles...especially as we have a septic tank!!

Don't worry about me having a big bill at the garage as it is still under warranty. We are a one car family as OH works from home and also because we are a bit remote we tend to replace a bit more often.

I have assured Margo that the second she lands at Inverness airport and we meet her wish will be my command to take her to whichever shops she needs also trying to help out with bluky stuff that one needs but take up too much of your weight allowance.

Weekend taken up with OH a bit poorly and with a trip to Elgin hospital. Loads of tests to prove what it is not but no definate diagnosis...medication that might or might not work and follow up with local Doctor John on Thursday.

  • Trish 2 haggis and chips sounds good to me.  I know the scenery is something special and can't wait to see it.
