At 1.30pm on Friday 3rd April 2009 a new male osprey arrived at Loch Garten and began to woo EJ who has had a difficult time at Loch Garten since she arrived on June 16th 2003 having been evicted from her own nest.
At the time we said that we would give the new male time to settle in before passing judgent. As the season darws to a close maybe it is the time to say what Odin has come to mean to you and how he compares to previous Loch Garten males like OVS, Henry and Ollie?

Around 18.26hrs Monday 1 August 2011 Odin brought a fish to the nest, with EJ right on his tail on hot pursuit. There was little noise from either other than from EJ as she frantically grabbed the fish from Odin, mantled over it and took off with it without so much as a thank you. I missed EJ, but here are three I got of Odin.
And one I took earlier! (27 July 2011)

0800hr approx 2nd August 2011 - Odin flies in to protect the nest from an unseen, unheard intruder. Does a teeny bit of housework too.
Some great captures and videos here. Last year Odin got a bit domestic before migrating.
Tiger that is depressing that Odin is "already" straightening the nest . It is only August 2. He tidies things and re-digs the nest cup before he leaves. I hope he doesn't plan to leave early this year.
Formerly known as Barbara Jean
Perhaps he is just at a loose end.
Agree some great content in here.

Syclla thanks for the video and I remember Odin last year dropping that clump of moss that took root in the nest cup and EJ did not like it. She was tugging pulling and it would not move. A very special moment this year was when the hand of an Osprey knight climbed the ladder and removed it. Wonderful
