I am not sure if we should have separate threads for Rothes and Mallachie. If people feel we should the best start them right away.
The first data has been published on Google Earth and immediately it is amazing how much further Rothes has flown that Mallachie.

Gary I expect by now you have seen Richard's update complete with photos. She is looking well although looking a bit sleeker after all that flying and hasn't she done well.

Wow, it's all such great news today, I'm as excited as if I flew it myself.
Have now put Didier Domec aka Xalbai's photos of Mallachie into a separate thread in this forum:

GE now updated.
Vive La France!!!
I've just been looking at Mallachie's route across France - several interesting points.
Her general heading was SSE until just south of the Loire - then after several shifts in direction, she headed SSW. As I understand it, that area is where ospreys are being reintroduced in France. We can't know, but I wonder if she may have seen some French ospreys, themselves setting off on migration, and followed them.
Her excursions over the Bay of Biscay were quite small - following the coast rather than setting out to sea. There's an observation on the Faune-Aquitaine site, of an osprey in flight on Sunday near Hossegor, so that could have been her too - if she was flying overhead, the aerial wouldn't be visible.
It's clear that GE doesn't show all the stops - for example, it looks as if she flew straight over the wetland where Didier photographed her, though we know that wasn't the case.

Richard has said that they only show their fixes every hour and the tracking is shown in straight lines. They could wander off anywhere between one fix and another.

Thanks Sue C. Looks an ideal place to go bird watching. with over 150 species.
Has anybody been there ?
Looks like a great place for an osprey to be. Well done Mallachie. Thanks Sue C and for co-ordinating the photos.
