Hi everyone.Welcome to another week. A week that brings us closer to the return of the Ospreys. Hooray!
Happy Sunday!Paul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Lindybird - thanks for the Monday smile, just what's needed on this dull grey morning.
Gary - Stick to Toffee she's far too sweet to be called The Toffster. Unless of course she moves on from sleeping on your shoes to chewing them to pieces (I speak from experience!) - then we may let you off!!!
Morning all,
Linda : Thanks for the monday smiles.
Annette : Cant believe it is the whale count again. Where does the time go? Hope you have a good day.
OG : Glad you had a better night.
Everyone else thanks for the chat etc.
Terrifically windy this morning and DIL just phoned to say their aerial has been blown down. Temp is down a touch at 10.2c and it is cloudy

Good morning all from a still windy Poole and it has started to rain now. So windy along the front in Bournemouth over the weekend that many cars got stuck in sand drifts. In the end they closed the road. I Just had a look at the cams at Loch of the Lowes and it is snowing hard and they have shut the centre today as some of them can't get in. I expect WendyB has snow again too.
My sister has had her first 2 radiotherapy treatments. They last six minutes. It is a long way for them to go every day as it takes them nearly an hour to get there. She will go everyday this week, have the weekend off and then five days the following week. I suspect it will be then that she might feel a bit sore. I had radiotherapy on a skin cancer on my back several years ago and it wasn't until the treatment finished that it all got terribly sore and then took another three months to heal up. It will be much worse for her though as it is her head that is going to be so sore.
Wendy when you are down this way do you ever come into Poole. Would love to meet up if this was possible.
Logged in yesterday afternoon when OH went out for his walk but couldnt get on to the site. He spent the morning mending our fence as some yobs kicked 6 panels in. Can't understand why these youngsters enjoy damaging peoples property. Of course we called the police but typically they had all gone when they turned up. Now and then we do have a problem with yobs and we get so annoyed that there is not much we can do about. The police actually have to catch them before any action can take place.
The leak has not got any worse thank goodness, just have to remember to empty the Pyrex lid which is catching the drips. Just thankful that we were not left without hot water and heating until they come Thursday to put a new cylinder in.
Update on Billy Whizz who has started to take an interest in our pond. Not too worried about him having a look as it is covered with netting but don't want him to get stuck in the netting. He made us laugh as he knows he is not supposed to be doing it. He looks through the conservatory window to see if we are watching and them makes his way to the pond wall, watching us all the time. Doesn't run away so quickly now and usually sits just outside the gate to our back garden and then has another try. If that fails he decides to have something to eat and drink.
Going out twice this week. Will be going to see Anton and Erin in a dance show on Wednesday evening. We saw them last year and enjoyed it so much we are going again. Thursday we are going to see Rumer who is actually a local girl. She sings Country and Western and is very well thought of. I hadn't realised I had been listening to her on the radio and thinking to myself what a wonderful voice she has. OH knew all about her and as soon as he saw she was on at our local Folk Club he booked tickets.
I have Lily's cam on at the moment and lots of feeding noises going on. Wonerful video of the cub which had attached itself to Hope's head. Bless her she didn't make a fuss even though their claws are very sharp.
dibnlib was sorry to read your OH was not at his best but see he did improve and did some work.
original goldfinch poor you with the cramp. Hope it didn't come back. I get cramp in my feet especially when they are cold and if I get it once it keeps returning all day or all night. It is extremely painful and Lindybird your OH must suffer badly if it causes him to faint.
Alan hope you are fully recovered now and eating normally. Thanks for the update on Dunedin and hopefully that camera will be up and running soon. Thanks for the links on the osprey platform construction and also the photos from the Hampton nest. Wonderful shots and I love being able to watch the cam (when I can) as you get so close to them.
Annette smiled about your matching ironing board and iron. Mine is not matching at all. Can't believe how quickly your Whale Count has come around. Hope you see plenty.
Lindybird hope you and OH are improving and not coughing so much. It is dreadful when you cough all night, makes you feel so washed out. Liked the "30 days Hath September" and also the Monday Smiles which are priceless. Getting more and more excited now about EJ's return it isn't really that far away but I hope she is not going to come back to snow again.
TerryM don't know about you but I could watch Lily, Hope and the cubs all day. As I type one is obviously hungry and is winding itself up into a right old paddy. Lovely film of Hope with a cub on her head attached by it's claws. She is so sweet with them.
Gary lovely pics of Toffee she couldn't be any cuter. I agree with your OH, don't call her Miss Toffstar although the "star" bit is right. Loved the one of her asleep on your trainers without a care in the world.
Diane poor you more snow but glad your cardinals are still around. Hope you will be able to get out for some provisions soon.
To anyone I have missed hello and hope you are keeping well.
Margobird
A poem for Annette:
Oh, how I love my ironing boardIn gentle green Seafoam!I gaze at it for hoursWhilst chatting on the phone.
I dash off to the Whale WatchAnd try to do my bitThough sometimes there are very fewSo we all just talk, and knit.
To keep in trim, I fit it in,And try to find time for the Gym:I flit across my stepping stonesTo go up there, and shake my bones.
When I get back home from the GymI set to, clean the house with vim:There are no dusty bits within...My poor OH is stuck in the corner:His office now is so much smaller.
When to relax I do decide,I go down where the roses hide -There I can snip and trim all day,And chase the dratted bugs away.
The evening's when I like the best-I can just sit here, in my vestTo watch the Hummers darting by, andTo survey the Landscape now its dry.
I drink my wine and contemplateThe friends I've made-Its all just great! Its all because I joined in the frayWith internet Chat on Ospreys all day!
OG, yes I still have your number, but OH and I not very good at visiting people we don't know, may still ring for info about the secret good tea place (or was it your place?). Now if you were at one of the reserves....we could probably cope with that!
Diane, I noticed Truck Dude was heading through Arizona, hope I get a chance to see some of the landscape. I looked at some of his videos of driving in Texas through snow and ice, I hadn't thought of that sort of weather there. They were all going nice and slowly except for the speeded up ones!
Annette, good luck with the whales, perhaps they should form part of your eye test - "How many whales can you see?"
Terry in Cumbria
Forgot to say, Gary, definitely Toffee, not Toffster!
MARGO Pleased to hear your sister has had 2 treatments already, she will be half way before you know it. Smiled at story of Billy whizz. Reminds me of Fingal(Goldie no 2) He would eye me up before pushing the dining room door open to get at the chocolates in cupboard. He would nudge door open with his muzzle. We thought for a while it was Dillon until I caught Fingal "red nosed" and after that we made sure the cupboard door was well and truely locked
Gym and swim again this morning and have built up to 10 mins on cross trainer at level 6 and 5 mins on bike. think I will stick there for a while. Looking forward to meeting Wendy at Tiso Outdoor on Wednesday. She will be going to Fitness Club first then will meet us at Tiso. OH and I are thinking of doing Aquarobics starting at 1100 on Wed so we might actually be there at the same time as Wendy. Trouble is that ,as yet, we won't recognise each other. The staff at Tiso know us by name so finding us there will not be a problem.
poor GARY no one is on your side when it comes to the name of your new pup. You will just have to admit defeat.
dibnlib you are really doing so well. Will be to meet up with Wendy on Wednesday and I am sure you will find one another. Much to my surprise after a very wet and windy morning the sun is now out and the birds are all at the top of a tree sunning themselves.
Great poem for Annette Lindybird. Are you and OH feeling a little better today.
