Weekly Chat, Sunday February 6, 2011

Hi everyone.

Welcome to another week.  A week that brings us closer to the return of the Ospreys.  Hooray!

Happy Sunday!

Paul.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • Lindybird  that must have been so scary.  Thank heavens you could get it into a safe place albeit on yellow lines.  I bet you were really worried when your OH disappeared into the distance completely unaware of what had happened.  Glad it was sorted but as you say that could have been so dangerous.  Loved your description of the mechanic.  What is it with these men who simply do not dress for the weather.

  • Lindybird  it's horrible to break down, I've been there but thankfully not on a busy corner - yet!

Gary  very crafty.  Don't think by abbreviation you'll get away with it although TT as a 2nd name may be ok but I reckon the full version is banned here!  How many horses do you have there?  I've had 3 in the past - 1 at a time though but I gave all that  up after losing the last one.  Happy to stick with the dog now.

  • Linda : That sounded really scary.

2 eggs at Shepherdstown eagles now:

Another nice afternoon here today. Car washing and gardening among todays activities. Temp 11c.

  • Just another great shot from Hampton eagles:

  • Quick look in - got in late and slept later than usual - before I get organized.

Alan: That Hampton cam is brilliant - so clear you can almost count the feathers.

Auntie: Do hope you can get out and about safely soon - and maybe even feel warm before too long.

Margobird: I'm coming to your house to sort through old handbags!  My Mom used to stash cash in the oddest places - between the towels in the linen cupboard, under cushions, between the pages of books - then she'd forget it was there.  I went through her house one day and found hundreds of dollars in various places (put it safely in her bank account).  I'm sure your sister must be on your mind all the time; do wish there was some relief from that kind of anxiety - it just lurks there like a gray cloud.

Brenda: Good that the furniture was picked up early - that's so nice coz you end up feeling as if you got a "free" day.

Lindybird: Joshua Bell was absolutely wonderful. He played Brahms, Schubert, Grieg, Sibelius and two short encores. A couple of pieces ended with a long drawn-out note and you could almost hear the audience holding its collective breath before breaking into loud and long applause.  The pianist was Sam Hawyood (apparently hails from the Lake District) and they were matched perfectly, with each artist and instrument bringing out the talents and capacities of the other. Just wonderful.  Bell seemed to be part of his instrument, playing with tremendous strength but also much delicacy. Very lovely evening and a packed house - the theater apparently was contacting season ticket holders asking that if they weren't able to attend to turn their tickets in because they had such a large waiting list.  OH and I bought tickets last year but didn't get around to it this year.  The Vienna Philharmonic is coming in March so am now inpsired to see if any tickets are available.    Horrible experience with the car - when they just die like that, the power steering goes out and then you have to wrestle all that machinery safely to the side. Glad it wasn't anything too serious.  Maybe tell OH to keep his eyes on the rear view mirror next time (or make him follow you)!   There's been so much talk on here of late about people being scantily clad in the midst of winter that I'm wondering if there isn't some evolutionary process underway!  (Just kidding.)

OK, gotta get moving. Take care all.

  • Hi folks, thanks for chat updates.

Alan - another great shot at Norfolk. I have just got some reasonable ones as at first she was back to cam.

All - the gran in Northampton was indeed brave, she in fact saw it happening from across the road and hurried over and started bashing them with her handbag, then eventually others stopped at least one of the gang and wrestled him to the floor.  The street was Gold Street towards the top end and I know whereabouts it took place.

Lindybird - looks like all systems go now for your visit from Sweetpea

Just taken some good shots of Phoebe's two, Phoebe feeding them and wingercising - so at least it looks as though one will fledge soon - quite windy there though.

  • serious wingercising, wings going so fast it looks fuzzy.

  • Run out of day!  Not as wet as forecast, but busy indoors – mostly food-related!  Was making tomato and pepper soup, so decided to make some tomato sauces to freeze and save on washing up.  Then OH was cleaning (in corners beyond Cleaner!), man came about increasing insulation, I had to sort through a box of stored jeans for Son (he’s been losing weight) and then I got busy with dinner – using a recipe, so a bit long-winded!  Early dinner because tonight is Bird Club – “Islay – Queen of the Hebrides”.

Might pop in tonight, otherwise see you tomorrow!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hi, all. Just stopped in to tell Annette and everyone that BigRig Steve is just now leaving Phoenix, Arizona to drive to Los Angeles and then up to Tracy, California. So if anyone wants to watch the Southwest/California, this drive will probably be pretty. Lots of sunshine. Does the sun still exist??? Link for new people: http://www.bigrigtruckcam.com/

Will be back tonight to catch up. OG: You sound so busy. Wish I had your energy! Take care of yourself, Lindy.

  • Scotland have just scored!!!!!!

    Every feather in place:
