Weekly Chat, Sunday February 6, 2011

Hi everyone.

Welcome to another week.  A week that brings us closer to the return of the Ospreys.  Hooray!

Happy Sunday!

Paul.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • Gary  she is just so gorgeous and very photogenic.   How do you manage to keep her still to take her photo.

    Margobird

  • Thanks Margobird. When she's comfy, she seems to sit still!

You can only be positive for your sister. I'm sure you have some dark moments but seems like she's coping as well as can be expected. That is a long day for her. Take care

  • Lynette - In this politically correct world we live in, some hymns have had their wording changed. For example, apparently we must not use the term Yahweh any more. So a line that once went "I am Yahweh . . " is now "I am the Father . . " Excuse me, but there’s an extra syllable to fit in and so our voices stumble and fade away.

Linda - Oh dear you are a mess. Reminds me of an email I received from a friend who’d had a bad week and wrote pleading for a coffee meet before she left this planet. LOL I phoned and debriefed her. Coffee with her next week.

Yesterday’s coffee morn was very pleasant, sitting under an umbrella at Henley Beach, overlooking the sparkling blue sea, 28 C but slight breeze, nattering on for hours. I can report that the caramel & butterscotch cheesecake was delicious and extremely filling and replaced lunch. As OH had been out for lunch, we had a miniscule evening meal.

The company given permission to explore Arkaroola for uranium is the one suspended 3 years ago for dumping 60 tonnes of waste water in breach of their licence. Apart from the native fauna & flora the area is a geological wonderland. http://www.arkaroola.com.au/activities.php

  • What a lot of catching up to do, thanks for all your news. I'll try and reply to one and all but may forget one or two so bear with me.

Lindybird - sympathise with you about the aweful cold/cough you both have had - had similar before Christmas which I don't normally get and it lasted a good 14 days if not more.  Get better soon.

Alicat - lovely capture of Phoebe and Bea and Jay.  Fledging is expected within the next 10 days.

George - So glad you've let us know about your dog - Diesel, hope he brings you many days of companionship etc.

Gary  - what a cutie.  Stay warm with all this snow coming.   Looked in on the Pensylvania Woods site earlier and fresh snow had fallen there too.

AQ -  it riles me that they bring in political correctness to change some wording of the old hymns, I'm afraid I sing the original words (allbeit quietly) thats when we get some, its all modern stuff at present with just the odd oldie thrown in. I see what you're getting at (sing the original quietly if you can) OK I know its difficult to do so when you're part of a choir.  Love to be sitting beside the beach taking in the scenery and a drink.  Enjoy.

  • Alan - good news from Dunedin, can't wait for the cam to start up.

A few picture from some of today's cams, let me know if I'm boring you with the captures, it fills in the time before EJ and Odin returns.

Norfolk cam morning and evening, Phoebe's two etc.

  • Evening all: Nice day here today; was out this morning and got back earlier than expected. Replaced the old Tanglefoot around the Valencia orange tree trunk and replaced with new to deter pesky ants!  Tidied up some of the new roses, then got last-minute invite by friend to hear Joshua Bell at the Granada theater here tonight.  She had just one ticket spare and OH has an early morning meeting with his volunteer group so I'm going.

Congrats dibnlib (or was it Djoan?) on getting letter published in another paper; let's hope it does some good.

OG: Yes, will miss whale count next Monday as will be in AZ; still the migration doesn't really get going for another couple of weeks.

Lindybird: Still sick! That's no good - these things do hang on.

Gary: I'm sure you'll cope just fine with TOFFEE to keep you company.  :-)

Lynette: Cam catches are great, especially Phoebe (but do wonder why everything is still so purplet).

Better go and excavate depths of refrigerator to see what I can dish up for dinner. Take care all. Apologies if I've missed anyone - it's so hard to keep up these days.  :-)

  • Just watched our evening news that wound up with video of "Super Granny" Anne Timmons of Northampton going after a gang of would-be jewel thieves - they couldn't resist adding that all she  wanted afterward was a "nice cup of tea."  (Americans love this kind of stuff!)

  • Morning all. Weather is rather miserable here now, yesterday it snowed all night and day and still is slightly. Temp is only minus 5C but very nasty northerly wind makes it feel like minus 14C. Thought I might go and do some shopping but will wait and see if weather clears out a bit. Shopping is not necessary today and the roads might be tricky so will wait and see. Was very glad awhile ago ‘cause there were five wonderful bullfinches (two males and three females) on a tree just behind my window - they are so beautiful! Must go and empty washing machine now. Hope everyone has a nice Wednesday, sorry I can’t mention everyone personally but do take care all!

GeorgeG, great to hear about Diesel, glad that you two are getting along so well already :)

Linda, sorry that you and your OH are still poorly. Seems like this bug is quite persistent (mine lasted about 14 days)

  • GARY  yes apparantly the colour is determined by their ears though I am sure that is not always the case. I think Fingals ears were much darker than the lovely cream colour he eventually turned out to be.

  • Good Morning All. Waiting for van to pick up old furniture. Supposed to be from 7am - 2pm, so had to be up,  showered and dressed before 7am.

Linda, I hope you and your OH are feeling much better this morning. It certainly has been a long, lingering bug.

George, So pleased that you and Diesel are enjoying each others company.

Margo, It must be difficult for you. I can understand why you are not ringing her, but I am sure you really want to ring her more frequently. Lovely to hear that Billy is gradually becoming a little more trusting of you both.

Dibnlib, Well done on the publishing of your letter.

Gary, Another beautiful photograph of Toffee. She is growing fast. How are the horses coping with all the snow?

AQ, Sitting under an umbrella, looking at sparkling blue water, 28c whilst eating cheesecake, sounds like heaven. Soooo jealous.

Annette, Hope you enjoyed the theatre. Just seen Super Granny on the news and how she attacked the thieves with her handbag.

auntie. If you say your roads are dangerous, they must be bad. Take care.

I had to stop typing as the men have just been for the furniiture. Great, that means I don't have to sit around, waiting.
