Weekly Chat, Sunday February 6, 2011

Hi everyone.

Welcome to another week.  A week that brings us closer to the return of the Ospreys.  Hooray!

Happy Sunday!

Paul.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • Afternoon all,

George : Glad you have been getting on well with Diesel. I have had to alter my walking routine slightly as Hamish is getting older. I do 3 shorter walks a day now rather than the 2 long ones.

Thanks to everyone else for your chat etc.

Today is a glorious sunny day with little wind. Current temp 8.3c. As it was so nice we went to Barnwell Country Park this morning and had a walk around the lakes.  I was really annoyed that I did not take my camera because there were quite a few tufted duck and Widgeon and a beautiful juvenile Great Crested Grebe on the north lake. Also a cormorant, swans, mallards etc. We then had a nice picnic in the car looking out over the Mill Lake. Very few people around so it was quite idyllic and peaceful.

  • Wendy, I could put off the ironing if the board was up in front of me LOL!

  • TerryM: It must be something in my make up as everything has to be in it's place and I have to do the ironing as soon as it is dry...it would drive me potty knowing it was lurking in a cupboard just waiting!!!!

  • Good afternoon all and what a glorious day after a very frosty start.  Didn't expect it to be white everywhere this morning.  Warmed up nicely now and even the birds are not so frantic when the sun shines.  Been to the hairdresser this morning to have a perm, that doesn't take too long, it is just the travelling that takes up so much time.

OH is having a pamper day with all the staff.  His boss treats them to this once a year.  I expect at this moment in time he is having a nice relaxing massage.  Will do him good though as he does work so hard.

Billy was around first thing and in fact we see more and more of him now, even spotted him prowling around the garden last night.  He does find our pond fascinating though.

BrendaH  I don't think it matters where you live now there always seems to be a hooligan element.  It is nice where live but the troublemakers come from an estate and go around causing trouble and demage all around.  I think the police move them on but they just find somewhere else to go.  Fortunately it does not happen too often although in the past we have panes of glass in the greenhouse broken and on one occasion they took all the bags out of the dog mess bins and hurled them up on our roof and in peoples gardens around us.  Completely mindless but sadly it seems to be the way of things nowadays.

george g so pleased to read that you and Diesel are getting along just fine and hope you are enjoying your walks with him.  Look forward to seeing a photo of him when he will sit still long enough for you.

Lindybird you and OH have really been suffering.  I hope you both will be fully recovered soon and will get to see Sweetpea this weekend.  Take care and spoil yourselves a little.

Annette hope you have better luck and see some whales.  Thanks as always for your kind thoughts.  My sister  now has a MacMillan nurse who will be visiting her regularly.  At the moment they are travelling to and from the hospital but don't know if this will change as she has more and more treatment.  I know she would probably want to be in her own home.

original goldfinch pleased to read your son's health is improving and he is finding things to keep him occupied.  Hopefully a job opportunity will come his way eventually.

Lynette thanks for all the captures.

Wendyb never mind as you say perhaps we could meet up in September.  If your offer still stands for a lift to LG I would be extremely grateful.  My OH thinks I will get lost getting from Inverness and I must admit I have a poor sense of direction.  Will let you know flight times when we book which will probably be soon.

Sorry haven't replied indiviually to all but must go and do something now.  Hope you are all having a good day.

  • Morning all: Quick look in before I leap in the shower and then out for most of the day.

George: Hurray - Diesei it is!  You'll have a lot of fun getting to know him. That's great.

WendyB: Aha, so you designed yours into a new kitchen - we have open plan too but, funny, the thought of building in a new ironing board didn't occur to me. Still, I tend to do ironing in one or more locations, depending on where OH is hanging out and if telly will disturb him.

Glad the weather sounds better, at least in some areas; hope those who are aiing are feeling better.  Hear comes Lightning looking for breakfast - no peace for the wicked. Take care all!

  • Mine doesn't lurk, Wendy, it sits folded very flat in the airing cupboard, then we wear it....(I know, I'm slack, but hey, I have better things to do.)

    Terry in Cumbria

  • Afternoon all ... a beautiful day here and there is some warmth in the sun ... it almost feels springlike! No doubt another spell of bad weather is lurking around the corner. OH and I had a lovely lunch out today at our favourite country pub ... our first for a while ... I don't count last Friday which was a bowl of home-made tomato soup with cheese bread at the farm shop!!

Haven't posted for a few days ... I don't know where the time goes ... but at least it brings our ospreys closer!! I have been continuing my sorting chores as we got a few charity bags through the door lately(genuine ones, not the foreign ones where everything seems to go abroad when you read the small print ... sorry ... have a bee in my bonnet about that!).

George - delighted you and Diesel seem to be getting on so well!

Linda - sorry you and your OH seem to be having such a rough time with your health ... hope it improves rapidly.

TerryM - I am with you on the ironing ... avoid it like the plague :-))

margobird - I see the yobs have been busy around your way. We had a spate when planks were being pulled off our fence, but it hasn't happened for a while. It is very annoying, and just mindless vandalism. How lovely for your OH to be having a pamper day!

Thanks to everyone I haven't mentioned, for chat, pics etc.

    Take care.

  • OG  Yes George does have Spaniel for a months trial but I am anxious to know how they are doing so far. Hoping so much things work out for them both.   See you helped Patriciat with personal sites. It was only after I had finished that I realised I had only told her how to get on to Dianes site and not actually how to post a message, so glad you helped her further. Glad to hear son is progressing.

Appt with GP on Thurs. I know from radiographer that my scan was borderline normal/osteopenia so am looking for advice. For myself I want to lose weight and unfortunately cheddar cheese is full of calories as well as calcium. Other things with a good level of calcium are sardines and pilchards and I just hate them with a vengeance.  Surely there are things high in calcium and low in calories that I enjoy. I have sent off for a comprehensive leaflet from the Ostesporosis society so should get tips from them.

  • LINDYBIRD You have both had such a tough time. Remember things can only get better now and hopefully you will get that visit from Sweetpea and family this weekend. I know what I would like to do to Margo's yobs but better not put it in writing otherwise I may get a visit from boys in blue. This may sound non PC but of course nowadays it is as likely to be female as male yobs and I find that difficult to get my head round.

Wonder what the car story is, glad to hear all sorted.
