Weekly Chat, Sunday, January 30,2011

What ho everyone! Lazy day for the most part - girding myself for the busy week ahead - oh for a week with no appointments, no projects, no visitors - but as they, say 'be careful what you wish for.'    Several folks added pix of Lily, Phoebe, and anonymous eagles on the last page or two of the previous thread, plus some quickie posts to wind up the week (AQ may have melted by the time you read this).   In the meantime, here's wishing Andy Murray the best at the Australian Open - it'll be over by the time I wake up.

Have a good Sunday all.

  • Diane you are not whinging at all, I feel frightened for you after reading your post and looking at the news.  I so hope you will be OK and not lose power and please take care.  So good of you to leave the garage door open for the wildlife to shelter in.  I can't imagine the ice that you might have along with the heavy snow.  I am sure everyone here will have you and Gary in our thoughts.  Lot of hugs to you both.

  • Good morning Heron 77 and such good photos of the birds.  Laughed at the starlings all trying to get on the bird table at the same time, just what they do on mine.  I think the loudest bird in my garden at the moment is the robin, he sings all the time and is often sitting on the fence really close to me as I fill the bird feeders up.

  • Hello to all who I have not mentioned but hope you are all well.

My sister will start her treatment this Thursday.  I spoke to her yesterday afternoon and I am full of admiration for her.  Even though she has been told again that radiotherapy will not cure her, it will at least give her more time with us.  I am hoping for a miracle and sometimes they can happen.  What I do know is that she will fight on and the family will be with her all the way.  She has 2 treatments this week, a couple of days off, and 5 days and a weekend off and the last 5 treatments for now the week after.  After about a motnh they will scan her again and it is then that she will find out if the tumour that is left has spread any further.  She has things to focus on such as a friend's Ruby Wedding Anniversary in March which she hopes to go to and then the same friend son's wedding in April.  Realistically she says the Anniversary party might not happen for her but the wedding should.

On another subject I have had the Lily cam on all morning and the cubs seems to have been suckling non-stop, as I type their little motors are running.  I read on the update that even Hope is still suckling and I think she is making up for lost time.  Doesn't seem to be causing any problems though.

Have a good day all and take care.

  • Hi Heron:  Lovely bird pics.    I'm sure I could do all three hundred or so posts on my own if I rambled on enough!.

Have just been arranging to go to the cinema again tomorrow - we are off to see "Tangled" which is the new Disney cartoon film, in 3D.  Must remember to take the special specs with us.   Will post a Review here again for those who like to read my ramblings.

Glad you all liked the Monday Smile - I have more of those for next week!  The sun is now coming out here so that will be a welcome change from all this rain.

  • Hi margo - good to hear that your sister is being so positive and that she is having targets to aim for - I do hope that she can be there for the celebrations.  The treatments are gruelliing if only for the constant travelling back & forth - as my friends friend is finding. She has not been too poorly from the chemo but is now losing some of her hair and has bought a wig (which her OH hates).

  • Here's another post - our local Woodpecker who did not of course, turn up during the BGBW!!

  • Afternoon all,

Had difficulty getting on to this site earlier and trouble with my router. All sorted now it seems.

Another month over and one more day nearer The Return Of The Ospreys.

We have had all sorts of weather today, early frost then cloud then rain then sun and now cloud again. After the coldest December for 100 years we had the cloudiest January for 15 years. I wonder what February will bring? Current temp 6.9c and rising.

Just checked the Hampton cam and no eggs yet.

Diane & Gary : Sounds like you are in for a severe storm. I just hope you stay safe and it is not as bad as forecast.

Brenda : I hope that you get your furniture removed and delivered in the correct order today.

Linda : Thanks for the GSW picture. We have only had one once in our garden.

Heron : Thanks for the BGBW pics. I see you had a nice selection of birds.

Lynette : Thanks for the pics of the Ozark eagles, not been following that one, and of Phoebes chicks. They are growing really fast.

Everyone else thanks for the chat pics and links.

Not sure if this was already posted about the Golden Eagle in Wales:
