Weekly Chat, Sunday, January 30,2011

What ho everyone! Lazy day for the most part - girding myself for the busy week ahead - oh for a week with no appointments, no projects, no visitors - but as they, say 'be careful what you wish for.'    Several folks added pix of Lily, Phoebe, and anonymous eagles on the last page or two of the previous thread, plus some quickie posts to wind up the week (AQ may have melted by the time you read this).   In the meantime, here's wishing Andy Murray the best at the Australian Open - it'll be over by the time I wake up.

Have a good Sunday all.

Very well deserved win for Novak Djokovic.

Yes, Brenda, and he also made a very nice speech just now...

  • Birds conspicuous by their absence today, so glad we did BGBW Saturday!  Not a great count, and no rarities, but the 30 Starlings helped boost the overall numbers!

Lindy – sorry your OH’s cold took hold – don’t catch it!  Well, best player (on the day) won, and I thought both did well with their speeches – Oscar winners could take a few tips!  Pleased you posted wrong photo – we got two for the price of one!  Been looking through (well, allegedly sorting!) old photo files and found this for the cute category – Granddaughter#2 aged two (will be eleven next month):

OH is at church and I really should hose myself down before he comes home!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Afternoon all,

I started to watch the Tennis and do the BGBW at the same time but as time wore on I spent more time looking out oif the window. There was more action in the garden than on the screen. Very disappointing from Andy Murray. The extra days rest seemed to help Djokovic a lot. Gave up watching and decide to go out to the Van Hage garden centre. Bought some seed potatoes for chitting and some more bird seed. Slightly warmer today with temp now at 4.9c.

Linda : Thanks for the nice pics of Tomasz.

Everyone else thanks for the chat etc. Off to Take Hamish for his walk soon.

One success at the BGBW was the return of the goldfinches. I took a pic:

  • Thanks for pics of Tomazs and the bird pics as well.

Sorry you are sneezing OG hope it is not a cold and that you find the common factor soon.

Shame Andy lost but what amazing play by Novak Djokovic - a very worthy winner.

Forgot to say that we saw cousin in hosp. Did not actually know the full story but it turns out that in June she had a few falls (unsteady on her feet due to ALD) and finally just slipped to the ground in her kitchen. This resulted in a serious break and she was taken to The Royal in Edinburgh for tests. Transferred to St Johns with developing bed sores which have still not completely healed. She has been told it will still take months and even then she will be transferred to Ashley Ainsley outside Edinburgh for intensive physio. Despite all this she seemed in good from and has retained her sense of humour, so good for her.

  • Good Afternoon Everyone: Not posted for ages but thankyou all for photos, chat, funnies and debate.

Super day here today so recorded tennis and went to Loch Morlich for a walk. It said ir was 1 degree but with the windchill factor coming into play it felt a lot colder. Some of the paths were still very slippery but with the loch half frozen it was no surprise. A cup of coffee halfway round at the Glenmore Forest centre. Some nice photos of the loch. Came back via Loch Garten which was also frozen over but no pictures as the sun was shining straight at us.

  • More Loch Morlich...still plenty of anow on the Cairngorms for the skiers.

  • Wonderful pics WENDY thank you. I so look froward to a decent walk there again. At the mo am still restricted to shortish walks on even surfaces. Busy week with appts Mon Tues Wed and Thurs pm and not sure about Fri at the moment, but will contact you on your page soon as I know. Had coffee at Tiso today and they will be getting new seasons stuff in soon so probably best to leave wallet behind and just take money for drinks!!!

  • Dibnlib: They would have been better photos if only had a better camera!! The path round was a bit "hairy" so we came back the road way...don't like doing it that way as everyone uses that road like a race track.

I am sure we will get together soon but if it is not this week I am sure it will happen soonish.

  • Is this a record for the world wide web. This photo was taken in Dorset on December 20th on my daughters I Phone. It arrived in my in box on Friday so it was ou there in cyberspace for 39 days!!!
