What ho everyone! Lazy day for the most part - girding myself for the busy week ahead - oh for a week with no appointments, no projects, no visitors - but as they, say 'be careful what you wish for.' Several folks added pix of Lily, Phoebe, and anonymous eagles on the last page or two of the previous thread, plus some quickie posts to wind up the week (AQ may have melted by the time you read this). In the meantime, here's wishing Andy Murray the best at the Australian Open - it'll be over by the time I wake up.
Have a good Sunday all.
Hi Brenda, the fish they lay eggs not live bearers it was after they hatched and was swiming around that i noticed the tiny fish, had a word with pet store yesterday and they said that the adults will eat them and if i want to keep them i should get a breeding box or hatchery to put them in it floats in the main tank and the adults can't get at them so went out and bought one its great i can keep an eye on them better we now have five baby fish and a the moment they all seem to be ok swiming around in the hatchery really lively

WendyB: Love that beautiful puppy doggie. Gorgeous! Also, loved the other photos you posted.
Alicat: Hope the baby fish thrive! They are so cute.
Lovely pics on here today: thanks to Alan for the Goldfinches - we managed to put a couple of Goldfinches on our BGBW list, even though there are usually 4 on the feeders. No show all day from our Woodpecker :-((
Thanks to Wendy for the great pics of the Loch, looking dramatic and wintry. That sounded like a cold walk.
OG: What a cute granddaughter! Thanks for posting your lovely pic.
Alicat: Nice that the baby fish will now thrive in their nursery!
Long talk on the phone tonight with our Youngest (Sweetpea's Daddy) He has just accepted a new job offer, so is going into work tomorrow with a letter of resignation in his pocket. Has worked at the company ever since leaving University many years ago, so its a real new beginning for him. Luckily he will be able to still commute from their home, so no need to move house. Also, they are coming to visit us here next weekend, so that all our relatives can come and see Baby for the 1st time.
Off to pour a medicinal whisky for my OH, who is coughing badly now with his head cold, and a glass of white wine for me. Goodnight!
Hi folks, just read your news.
Dibnib - similar to what my mum went through. Not quite the same but I know what you must be going through. When I think back mum really started to go downhill about 4 years ago and got really bad 3 1/2 years ago so we had to put her into a care home as my brother couldn't cope and I live over 150 miles away. Let's hope that your mum shows improvement by spring and is back visiting the day centre and being in the company of others.
Lindybird, such cute pics of Tomasz. OG - like yours too of your grand-dau# albeit taken a few years back.
Alan - fantastic picture of the goldfinches. I have put a nyjer seed holder out but I think I have got the wrong one (its stainless steel with very small holes and no perches) I think I'll have to get another one sometime but one with perches. Live and learn!!
WendyB - love the pics of the loch with the Cairngorms in the background - quite atmospheric
Went to church this morning, returned to do dinner for OH and self as daughter stayed on for Shared Lunc and just chilled out the rest of the day. Took some pics at the LOTL site. Blue tits, chaffs, blackbird and G.spotted woodpecker all picked up on them. Also one of Lily etc..

Jut filled in my GBW form so submitted that, no great surprises though, just the usual birds I get here. More from LOtL.
Apologies for hogging some space but just couldn't resist, will try to curb my enthusiasm.
Allicat - thats amazing about the hatched fish. At least now you can keep an eye on them.
WendyB - Daugh#s pic of their dog - he looks handsome.
Linda - Our car had a strange tapping noise, not loud, but a wee bit worrying. Finally OH remembered he was going to check it. Only to discover a twig caught in cobwebs beneath the car. A good thing I didn’t take it in for a service. LOL. BTW the next service is due 31 Feb according to the reminder sticker.
OH went out the other morn to collect the paper. Returning he said that I would have to wait, his magpies were calling for their feed. I complained that I had gone down in the pecking order . . .
Min 28C overnight, I was up at 5am, too hot to sleep. Red Cross is ringing the elderly daily to check they are OK. So many try to save money by leaving their air-conditioners off. Several areas had power outages last evening with transformer fuses blowing. I couldn’t get on this blog earlier. Usual route timed out. Via my page was no help as it is new thread. Via groups - timeout again. Now 3 hours later, here I am. And it HOT heading to 42C. So nice to see all those cool pics of snow. Another day reading and doing very little. I guess my washing was dry 10 mins after hanging out. I hate summer.
AAACK! This is the third time I've attempted to write something (couldn't get on at all this morning). Also, still getting used to this new keyboard and somehow keep hitting a key that dumps my posts, even the short ones! Maybe they'll show up in 39 days like Wendy's e-mail photo. In a nutshell: Sorry about Andy Murray - seems he's overdue for a big win; how frustrating for him (and all you fans).
Lovely photos of birds, dogs, lakes, and especially little girls and tiny boys. Very cute.
dinblib: Hope spring hurries and brings better days for your Mom - also that wobbly cousin.
AQ: Assume you're too young for the Red Cross phone call list? I hate extreme heat and am hoping for a second coolish summer for us.
BrendaH: I sincerely hope the landscaping will be done and finished Tuesday at the latest. We had yet another "misunderstanding" with the main guy yesterday. Seriously, I think this man thrives on complications; it's almost as if he deliberately misunderstands basic communications. I'm beginning to wonder if he doesn't have some kind of auditory processing problem, or is maybe ADHD. Regardless, I won't be sad to wave goodbye to him and his crew.
Poured with rain on and off today here. Had lunch with daughter; went to say hallo and give carrots to Miss Molly, then brought grandson back here for the night since he has a doc's appointment down here in the morning. I also have dentist appointment for regular cleaning. And so the week begins...
Take care everyone.
Hi, all.
dibnlib: I looked up that Owl print by Paul Bartlett. Stunning. I loved it!!! It would go very nicely in my house! :-) So very sorry about your mother. I hope Spring brings improvement for her. I know it's so stressful for you.
Annette: Sounds like that landscaping dude practices selective hearing. Perhaps he needs a swift kick in the seat of the pants to get his attention before you try to dialogue with him? LOL Hope your dentist appointment goes okay. Haven't "talked" to you much lately. Hope everything is going well there (besides the landscaping issues :-(.
Lynette: Lovely screen captures as usual!
Lindy: That baby Tomasz is beyond cute. Just adorable!!! Congratulations to your son on his new job. Hope your husband recovers soon from his awful cold. Don't get sick, Lyndy!
Alan: Lovely goldfinches!
OG: So sorry that you're sneezing again. Have you been tested for allergies? Is there something in your environment that is present every two weeks, triggering an allergic reaction? Anyway, I hope you feel better, my friend. That is a glorious picture of your granddaughter. Beautiful child! Thanks for posting the pic.
AQ: Dang, that's hot!!! Do be careful. That much heat is dangerous. I wouldn't do anything but sit on my bum and cuss in that weather.
Speaking of weather: I don't mean to whinge, but thought I should tell you that if I "disappear" for a few days, don't worry. It just means that my power is probably out and I won't have access to a computer. We have a winter storm predicted to begin on Monday evening. The local media are still tracking it, but the warnings say that we could get up to 1 1/2 inches of solid ice in the beginning and then heavy snow. The northern part of the state will get up to 2 feet of snow (poor Caerann in Chicago!), and it's still unclear how much of that we will get in my area. The authorities are warning that long-term power outages are possible here. Sometimes our local media gets carried away and they hype storms way too much, but it does look like this will be a bad one.
Have a good Monday, all.
