Morning all: Long day at the rose garden - poor Robert who supervises the volunteers has been fighting off a bug and a couple of us stayed on longer than usual to help him clean up stuff. I'm sure I'll be stiff tomorrow. Not as many folks showed up as last year and some of the beds were pruned by city employees which means we'll have to go over those beds again since they did a fairly perfunctory job.
Watching Mad Men (Netflix rental video of first season). Great viewing when you're too tired to think. Take care all and have a nice Sunday.
Annette – “Lake los Carneros” isn’t that Lake of the Sheep? What are the sheep doing in the lake – googled it and it’s a wine-growing area – more confused than before. Oh why am I always so eager to try to explore language?! Sounds a great place whatever it means. Done the tweezers trick with shredder, and the cooling down bit – it groaned o - s o - s l o w l y through two more sheets and now totally not working.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Just been to Bear cam - poor Hope looks so dejected and confused!

Alicat - somebody reported on here today that there were definitely two - I think whoever it was may have picked it up on the Lily Facebook site as the Bear news on the WRI site will not be updated until evening their time.
Only 61 Days and 20Hours and odd to EJs return
Thanks OG re- lily and cubs
Thanks OG Hate the fact that I find visits to Mum so difficult now. My GP made me feel better when she told me that some families stop visiting or contacting altogether. Anyway Mum has hurt her back and unfortunately had a bad reaction to the medication she was given so poor brother has had a lot on his plate the last few days. Meds now changed so hopefully things will improve.
Hi folks Have had a busy day but now caught up with all the posts - can't possibly reply to all!
Margo my heart goes out to you. A sister is so close and dear. I was the eldest of 3, lost one 3 years ago when she died in her sleep, having come through heart valve replacement with flying colours and got her old life back. The 'baby' had a blackout while cooking Sunday dinner a year ago and had to have a pacemaker fitted. thankfully she is OK now but we both miss Liz greatly.
Thanks for all the good wishes for Tweed. He seems to have made a full recovery. i took him over for his competition this morning but it was cancelled as the ground was frozen. Organiser gave the handlers the decision about whether or not to go ahead and the decision to cancel was unanimous - our dogs are much too precious to us to risk injury.
dibnlib Hope your Mum's mind will continue to improve - medication can cause such problems. I used to visit in a care home for the elderly, with a group like PAT Dogs. Didn't know whether to agree with the 'confused, or try to ignore the problems.
Haven't yet managed to see Lily's new cub(s). I'm sure Hope's nose will be out of joint - she had Gordon Buchanan following her around (lucky her!) so probably feels very special.
Hi, Does anyone know why it is that I can't get the Bear cam? - it just says 'loading advertising..' and stays black, and also the Norfolk Eagle cam stays black. I've tried both at various times. I can get other cams ok, eg the Phoebe cam . I'm sure I could get them last year, so I don't know what has changed. ? Thanks.
Dibnlib – sorry about your Mum’s back and her reaction to medication – as you say, a difficult time for your brother, but what a good thing it didn’t happen when he was away in Oz, and you immobilised with your ankle! You must not feel bad about finding visits difficult – it’s a kind of “mourning” because you are bereft of the Mum she used to be and wish she still was.
Patricia – sorry the competition was cancelled after everybody got there - but, as you say, best for the dogs. Pleased to read that Tweed was so much recovered that he would have taken part.
Want to get to bed early tonight – really must go to church tomorrow, so will not be switching PC on first thing as it tempts me to wander!
