Morning all: Long day at the rose garden - poor Robert who supervises the volunteers has been fighting off a bug and a couple of us stayed on longer than usual to help him clean up stuff. I'm sure I'll be stiff tomorrow. Not as many folks showed up as last year and some of the beds were pruned by city employees which means we'll have to go over those beds again since they did a fairly perfunctory job.
Watching Mad Men (Netflix rental video of first season). Great viewing when you're too tired to think. Take care all and have a nice Sunday.
Diane - How wonderful to have a guard hawk when you are away from home.My friend, her dau & g-son went to an outdoor evening cinema in Botanic Park. "The Owls of Da’Hoole". The guest visitor was Casper the barn owl from Cleland Wildlife Park. The surprise was a possum sneaking down to raid the rubbish bins. G-son was ecstatic. I found these pics of him http://www.kangarooislandbirdsofprey.com.au/coppermine/displayimage.php?album=1&pid=14#top_display_media
Annette - Isn’t there some theory that when a butterfly flaps its wings in Mexico, there’s a flow on effect? So is it all your CAL flutterbies that are causing the strange weather patterns worldwide?!!!!Our newspaper had a snippet about a tagged 13-yr-old male western Pacific gray whale being tracked from Russia towards Alaska, now in the Bering Sea.
Paul - 77 Herons? So you are not an endangered species. LOL
Margo - Slow & sure will entice Billy Whiz.
Tour DownUnder today is leaving suburb Unley and heading through the McLaren Vale wine region, south of Adelaide. Temp expected to be 36 C in city, perhaps a few degrees cooler down south.
According to research (Uni in South Korea) men with colds (man flu) are more likely to succumb under stress than a woman. Hm, I don’t think I shall say that out loud here.
Our eldest grand-cat has been sick. It started with a rash. He became ill (reaction to medication?) and spent a day in vet hospital on a drip. He was so terrified that dau took him home after 24 hours. Poor cat, sedated for xray, pricked for blood tests, sharing hospital with dogs. He is slowly improving. Dau keeps ringing me with reports, or more likely, seeking TLC. We have had some discussion on problems communicating with young children & animals when unwell. Remember when first baby cried - is s/he wet?, thirsty?, hungry?, sick?, tired?, too hot?, too cold?, just plain cranky?
Evening all: Been a busy but productive two days. Finally unearthed my computer from under piles of papers, files, magazines, flyers, coupons, receipts, bills etc., but then decided really ought to do ironing. WIll catch up tomorrow.
Lynette – thanks for keeping up with Phoebe after my bedtime! Hope you are pleased with your hair. Glad you are getting the extra opportunity for your swim.
AQ – I hope poor grandcat is getting better – but how do you tell when a cat has a rash?
Annette – you really are getting the job done in your study! Ours is so much more pleasant to sit in now it is done.
Thin fog again this morning – hope it will disperse when sun is properly up – it did that yesterday, so there is hope!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Hello to all! Thanks for every post, pic etc., great stuff. Welcome back Diane and how wonderful to have that hawk living so near. And Dandy looks soooo sweet. My “ slightly under the weather” took a small turn to worse. I’m on a sick leave till coming Sunday and been trying to cough my lungs out and blow my brain out through my nostrils, but probably have some gray matter left. At least some primitive urges are still there, like the need to eat, sleep and chat LOL. Feeling a bit better now - had a decent amount of sleep last night and not coughing and sneezing the hole night thru. This is just a viral infection (proven by blood test) so no antibiotics needed, just rest, painkillers, loads of vitamin C and hot black current juice plus some cough medicine. Sorry I don’t reply you all but let me assure every post is read and appreciated! Must go back to vertical position with a hot drink now. Do take care all and have a nice day!
EDIT. meant to say " back to horizontal position" duh LOL

Auntie – sorry you got worse with your viral infection, but probably the best thing in the long run as it has given you time off work and a chance to catch up on some sleep now that you are coughing less. Have a restful day and drink plenty – be kind to yourself!
ALICAT recipe doesn't say but I did first half on hob , then sat fish on top and put in oven for 18 mins. Also should make clear that sometimes I use wine, sometimes milk and on Wed mixed the 2 tog. VG whichever way you choose. Hope that helps. Let me know .
LYNETTE hope you are pleased with birthday hair treat and hope you enjoy your birthday tomorrow.. Love all the PHoebe pics.
AUNTIE Do take care of yourself and hope you feel better. Off to take washing out of machine , beautiful day here but cold so think I will put it straight into tumble dryer. Then off to fitness club. See you later
Morning, Everyone. Another grey misty and cold day here, but I shall ignore it and walk into the town for my errands, and pretend that the spring sunshine is out!
Thanks to all for pics and posts - no time to reply to All, but sorry to hear that poor auntie is laid both vertical & horizontal by the bug! Seriously, hope you recover soon, auntie and do be kind to yourself, as others have said.
Good morning auntie so sorry you are unwell. Do take care of yourself and get plenty of rest before you return to your very busy job. Hope your sleeping pattern will improve now that the cough has eased slightly. Keep taking the vitamin C as it does help.
