Morning all:  Long day at the rose garden - poor Robert who supervises the volunteers has been fighting off a bug and a couple of us stayed on longer than usual to help him clean up stuff.  I'm sure I'll be stiff tomorrow. Not as many folks showed up as last year and some of the beds were pruned by city employees which means we'll have to go over those beds again since they did a fairly perfunctory job.

Watching Mad Men (Netflix rental video of first season).  Great viewing when you're too tired to think. Take care all and have a nice Sunday.

  • Just looking in and yes, Margobird, quite a few watching Hope and Lily.  Pic of them coming up and of squirrels at the Pensylvania site, also the Derby peregrine. Will catch up later. You can just make the squirrels out, unfortunately not the red variety.posted on wrong week. Pics taken about 10mins ago.

  • Alan thanks for the link to the Norfolk eagles, just tried but not on air yet.

Lindybird - lovely picture of your garden in spring. Over 2,000 watching at Lily's den at present.

Went to go out to gym for OH's usual workout and my swim. Got as far as the car. Opened the garage door to put recyling boxes back in and a cable went, door wouldn't open properly so I stayed at home because of vulnerability with the garage open whilst OH went and did a bit of shopping for me.   Rang our friendly builder who is calling in later - he says its probably just a cable needed.  Let's hope so because looking at new doors - anything from £300+ Oh dear!!!!!!!!!   Two weeks running not had a swim, last weeks was due to the dentist, hopefully next week will be OK.

Still off to the hairdressers to have a perm and the trimmings tomorrow, courtesy of daughter and son as a birthday present for me.  Going out for a nice meal at a local resteraunt on Friday (day of b'day) so should be good, looking forward to it.   Another year on, how time flies.

  • Been a lovely sunny day, although somewhat cool, but just as forecast.  Nice to have the afternoons extended a bit longer now.   Counting the days to their return.

  • Good afternoon all have enjoyed catching up with all the news and the bright pictures of the various wildlife. Have been making enquirys about a dog and I will have to make some changes to my garden as at the moment a dog would be able to get out of the garden easily. I have also been sorting out my different house insurance policies as they all fall due next month and I have found that if you tell them that you are changing suppliers they are not long in finding things that they haven't told you you about and in one case I got three times the cover for a third of the price I have also found that gas and electricity suppliers also usually find a cheaper tariff for you when you say you are changing.

The weather here has been quite sunny the last two days but this morning everything was white with frost and the temp was only 4C had midday. I am also starting to clear out a lot of unwanted stuff so there must be something in the air telling us to declutter. Hope everyone gets rid of their aches and pains and gets fit for the coming osprey season.

  • Pleased to hear that most of you are enjoying a little bit of good weather, it makes everything seem so much better.

Nice walk started out going down the Speyside Way but it was really slippery and dangerous in places so instead of going back the same way did a circular tour that included a bit of road so a bit safer and a lot longer. Sun shone and the views towards the Cromdale Hills glorious. Planes from Lossie outnumbered buzzards today.

Came back and tidied some bits in the garden, sorted out my log store and stowed a few things in the garage.

Dibnlib: Thanks for your support, I decided that the form was a bit limiting so have done a full page document.

Not as fit as I was before Christmas but getting there. I used to do the early longer spin classes but am easing myself back with the shorter lunchtime ones. Well done on your lengths...I always lose count on the number I do. I do miss the watery picture that they used to have on one wall.

  • Lindybird - your Spring garden looks wonderful and it won't be long now until it's like that again - thankfully.

Margo - not having been too much of a regular i'm not upto speed on Billy Whizz.  Is he a stray? Not surprised he approves of Whiskas!

Wendyb - all those minutes extra daylight are really adding up now.  I actually managed to take Mia for a walk (me) run (her) round the fields after work this afternoon.  Rather muddy to say the least and she had to be washed down after but much more fun for her than just being able do do a walk round the roads.

Our garden birds - sparrows, goldies, greenies, bullies and assorted tits are still not eating nearly as much as they were which i do find strange for the middle of winter.

  • WENDY   my counting method works like this. First time I lose count I add a length to my total and 2nd time I deduct a length. Think this keeps me about right.   Yes I do miss the revolving pics at the far end. Particularly liked the one with the dog who had obviously seen something in a tree, though I never found out what. Was told it was prone to breaking down and took forever and cost a fortune to repair. Was also told they would find something to replace it , nothing so far, but I keep hoping.

  • Dibnlib: Might try that method. The treadclimbers have gone from the gym (well that still have 2) and it seems the company have gone bust and they won't be able to get spares. They have promised something new and wonderful to replace them but I am not holding my breath.

Nice pink and blue sky tonight it was so nice.

  • Good evening Trish 2 yes Billy Whizz is a stray who first appeared last October.  He is an extremely nervous cat and it is only now that he doesn't run off when I go in the garden.  Still can't get that close to him but we have grown very fond of him over the past few months.  Don't think we will ever get him to come inside but we put food and milk out for him twice a day which he obviously enjoys and so far has managed outside living in all the snow, ice and pouring rain which we have had.  He looks very healthy and seems to have made himself very much at home in our garden where he climbs inside a very thick foliaged pine tree to rest out of harm's way.  He even looks back at us now when we call him so have made some progress with him.

  • Lynette  hope the garage door won't cost a fortune.  Hope 3rd time lucky next week for your swim.  Enjoy your meal out on Friday and hope hairdresser does what you want and you are pleased with the result.  Happy Birthday for Friday, doing it now as my memory not what it was.
