Sandy, these are stunning pictures. You must be extremely proud of them.
Rutland Water is so relatively near me that I simply MUST visit the ospreys next year.
Just looked in and seen your pictures Sandy, echo what Daisy Ray has said.
Hoping to go to Manton Bay area next Wednesday and with a bit of luck might see my first osprey in the flesh!!!

Hi Lynette head for between Lyndon and Manton on the Lyndon Road to the Lyndon Centre where the best viewing centre is the hide there looks over Manton bay nest. Sat Nav LE15 8RN. There is two hides approx 15 minutes walk from the centre WADERSCRAPE and SHALLOW WATER which overlooks directly to the nest - a nice walking path takes you down to the hides. The nearest village of size is Oakham approximately two miles away where there are hotels and pubs you can get lunch. Egleton is in between where the Bird Fair is held. Melton Mowbray is 10 miles NW and is a lovely place to visit and suggest you take home a home baked MM Pork Pie. The centre is Sign posted from the road.
Although i live in the Highlands of Scotland near to LG - Manton is one of the best areas to view activity around this time of year - I went at Bird Fair time last year and saw all five birds at the nest.
Thank You Sandy for showing your wonderful photographs.

Looks like Keith has answered your questions. There will be at least one member of the Osprey Project Team on duty at Lyndon Centre and volunteers in Waderscrape Hide with telecopes for the public's use. The nearest pub is the Horse & Jockey at Manton.
Looking in again.
Thanks Keith and lyndab for the information which is gratefully received. Really looking forward to seeing my first osprey in the wild. Really should have got up there sooner but I have to rely on OH to drive as I don't. We are only about 3/4 hr. away, silly isn't it. Never mind we are going to get there on Wednesday and just hope the weather holds!!!!
Sandy, Thanks for such super photographs.
