Hi Rachel, sorry I've only just seen your post (it was tucked away at the bottom of the last page!). AA is the father of the returned chick 06(09). The team at RW are hoping to put all the breeding history from the old website onto the new one at some point. You may be interested to know that another of the nine chicks from 2009 has been identified. 05(09) from Site N was unfortunately found dead in Spain in March this year.
Many thanks, Sandy. Hope they manage to pull the history across eventually - RW is probably the best-documented site after LG and it would be a shame to lose the information. I'm quite sure they won't have time until the winter, though - must be very busy down there just now. High on my 'to do' list for next year.

I'm sure the info will be transferred, Rachel. The problem with the new website (excellent though it is) is that it's been created by one of the volunteers so they will have to do the update. They certainly are busy at RW at the moment, this is a very important weekend for them! ;-))

I don't think 05(09) was from site N, according to the info released at the time the 2 site N chicks were 03 & 04. The chicks from site B were 00 & 01 (I know one of the chicks at site B didn't survive so maybe 02 was intended for this chick?).
Maybe 05(09) was the sibling of 06(09). If AA was the father of 06 as you say above then he would have been quite young to breed having only returned in 2008 & probably only set up territory that year! Are you sure it wasn't 06(00) or 08(01) which were the other males that were around that year that could have bred. We know the movements of 32(05) & 5R(04) that year & we know 09(98) has not bred yet.

You could be right about 05(09) not coming from site N, Vespa. The other likely candidate would be Site O, I guess.
All I can say about the identity of the father of 06(09) is that the info came from the person who ringed 06!!
V Interesting, thanks.
We know AA is currently at site O from the info on the recent blog.
Now I think about it, I'm not 100% certain whether it was 05 who was found, maybe it was 04 (which would be a Site N bird). Either way it's one that won't be making it back, unfortunately. I'm sure that they'll put the exact info up on a blog sooner or later!
