Thanks Sandy - brilliant pictures.
Thanks for your super photographs Sandy. Great that you ID each bird in your second pic.
Thanks Sandy. It has been a good day for fledging today. They should have had their Hubble telescopes on the ospreys not some nondescript Sandpiper. Great pics especially the second one.
Brilliant pics Sandy, thanks. Glad you got such a great view. Shame people were more interested in the Sandpiper. Priorities eh?

The third chick in Manton Bay, 22(11) has just made his first flight!
I will be going to Rutland Water for the 'Osprey' Dawn Boat trip this Saturday, with the 'additional' sandwiches that we are looking forward to with relish. We will be joining a couple of other friends, and I am really looking forward to the big event
We saw the Ospreys last year in flight while out on the boat and in the bird hides - what a sight they where too.
They are specular birds and they are very addictive to watch - cannot wait no {big smile}
Regards
Kathy and Dave

Great news that all three of the MB boys are now airborne!

Thanks Chloe (et al). Don't get me wrong - I really enjoy the variety of birds and wildlife on show at RW. I'd have been the first to take a snap or two if it'd flown to the near shore, and a Spotted Sandpiper is quite a rarity. I suppose I just can't understand the fascination of seeing birds for the sake of ticking them off a list, and all too often it leads to this appalling behavior (scroll down to 15th July):
