Busy all day - will catch up tomorrow. Have a good Sunday all (don't forget to check last pages of previous thread. Somebody has been posting photos of puppies again!)

New blog from Alice, Rothes hasn't moved islands.

Thanks TerryM i will look at that now

  • Evening all. I came on earlier and had responses ready to post when I did something (don't know what) and the lot disappeared.

AQ So glad you are not in Queensland or WA.  It's quite horrifying to see the floods - someone described what was happening as an inland tsunami.

Margobird How very badly your sister and B-i-L have been treated by the hospital.  I do hope and pray that things will improve.

George I'm with the others who think you should go for a dog.  i know most of the reputable animal rescue centres would provide help, support and, if necessary, rehoming.  And a dog is such good company.

WendyB If you undertake your walk to Findhorn, I hope you'll enjoy your meal in the Crown and Anchor - difficult not to!

Had to have the drain doctors out this morning.  I found the cover off the drain below my kitchen sink floating, which didn't seem right.  They didn't take very long to put things right and weren't too difficult to pay, which is a pleasant surprise nowadays.

Apologies to all I haven't replied to (grammar!).  I have a meeting of the Church Committee tonight so I'm pushed for tim.  Take care, all.

  • OG: Yes we have had some snow but it is the ice that is the problem...aborted gym trip on Friday after getting 3 miles down the road at Advie turned round and went to M and S in Elgin. So pleased I did after hearing your sons take on the roads. Went that way this morning for gym trip and the road across to Carrbridge was once again grim as they had had snow overnight, so came back the scenic way for a change. Dis see a Kestrel hovering over Culloden battlefield enjoying the afternoon sun.

Yes presents arrived at daughters in dribs and drabs some before Christmas and some after.

Awaiting news of youngest daughters dog (my avatar). Daisy is 18 months old and Vicky wants to get her used to going to the kennels. She has one in walking distance which ticks all the boxes but there is a big BUT. Most kennels don't take large breeds and she is classed as that, she is an English Bull Terrier. There is a stereotype on this breed which makes me angry. She is soft and would lick you to death and is fantastic with children. I am convinced it is nurture not nature. Anyway the people at the kennels invited Daisy to take free trial at their day creche. So off she went this morning armed with a smelly blanket a toy and a treat. Fingers crossed it goes well eagerly waiting for update phone call.

Annette: Did you find out the going rate for child hire?

Alan: Did you get your first day covers today of those very special stamps.

  • Patriciat: Thanks for the recommendation to the Crown and Anchor...must admit we tend to use the one on the front ( its name escapes me at this very grey moment). It is nice to sit out there in the summer looking over the water. When avatar was up last year I popped in to see if dogs could go in the answer being "Oh yes much prefered to children!!" Not sure that that is very PC.

  • WendyB: Will have to see about getting a set of those special stamps.

  • WENDY hope creche went well for Daisy and that the kennels suit all. It is so important to get just the right place. Never heard of probs with English Bull Terriers, from what you say it seems that like Staffies they get lumped together with some of the more aggressive breeds when the truth is that like any pet given the right environment, they can make the most wonderful companions.   If you are at DW tomorrow or Fri (probably between0930 - 1030) and you see someone with a bit of a hobble do ask as it just might be me.

  • WENDY Is it "The Kimberley" that you are thinking of?

  • Lily and Hope both quite active - Hope well-visible this time.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Didnlip: She past with flying colours with not even a backward glance. I get cross with the sterotyping..we have a pack of farm dogs next door who have done more damage than any large breed in a loving enviroment. The kennels are so handy as they can walk her there and youngest can get her breack in Turkey in May. A well earned break as she works with autistic children.

Gym visits depend on roads at present...tend not to get there until 11.30 ish or later when I am doing a class but will blog early am when I am on m y way. So will it be red rose or carnation!!!

  • Yes yes yes..I do hate those grey moments!!
