HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I hope everyone has the best week possible.

I don't have a positive post for you all this week. The polar vortex (dangerously cold air from the Arctic) is dropping down on Indiana for the next few days. We are under an Extreme Cold Watch. The "feels like" apparent temperature will drop to 20 below zero Fahrenheit or lower in my area. That's 29 below zero Celsius. My house will be too cold for me to do anything but stay under the electric blanket and sleeping bags, read, and listen to the radio until the vortex goes home. The high winds caused a limb to fall on my power line yesterday, causing a power outage. Luckily, the very kind power crew got here within 2 hours and restored my electricity.

Lots of sweary words by me this coming week!

Love and hugs to all of you.

  • Oh Diane  That sounds so awful.  Any chance you could go stay with your friends in Indianapolis?  Do hope you manage to hang on to the power so you can heat up some food  and keep the electric blanket going.  Do you have anywhere to go locally if the power goes out?  Will be thinking of you.  Here, they're forecasting more hot dry winds for the LA area on Monday .

Been a somewhat frustrating and discombobulating day; hoping tomorrow will be quiet.  Take care everyone.

  • Diane - how awfully cold is that? So sorry. I hope you manage to keep warm under your blankets. Thank you for starting us off.
Annette - sorry you are discombobulated!!!

I am going to visit my friend this afternoon. I am not looking forward to it. I don’t want to see her in this state. Apparently she was a bit more responsive yesterday which is encouraging. I am going with my sister.

  • It's good that your sister is going with you, RUSTY.

Thanks, DIANE for starting us off. I'll be thinking of you - hope that you can manage to keep warm.

ANNETTE,- discombobulation sounds a bit worrying - I trust that generally speaking, all is well with you and the family. I can't imagine being 88 and touring around a space centre ! I'm only in my 80th year and wouldn't be too keen on that :-)

All is OK here - at least it was when I last thought about it ! Son in law has only been home for a week and has been recalled to the Netherlands. The only good thing about working there is that they only allow the guys to be on the rig for 14 days at a time ( and apparently the food is excellent ).

  • Thank again Diane and do stay inside and hunker down whilst its so cold. It looks like things improve by Thursday if I have your area right. I look at Waveland.

Rusty - how awful for your friend and obviously all of her friends who care for for her. I hope you find her improved today. As someone that lives alone and family are hours away I do worry about this as my Mum had a stroke at 67 and even though her Brother used to visit her daily and called an ambulence when he arrrived, she deterioated over the next 4 days. We all kept talking to her and for a few days she would squeeze our hands but the nurses said to keep talking as even though she couldn't respond she could possibly still hear us.

AQ - I Hope your sleep has improved - mine is very irregular.

To everyone else that Ive missed - have a good week with all ailments improved.
