HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY FULL MOON!

The first full moon of 2025, the Wolf Moon, will occur at:

10:26 pm on Monday, January 13, in UK

2:26 pm on Monday, January 13, in California

8:56 am on Tuesday, January 14, in Adelaide, Australia

I hope everyone has a good week.

During last week's snowstorm, the roads and businesses in my area were all closed. No traffic on the highway near my house. No booming loud music and yelling at the pub/bar. Just the wind in the trees and the falling snow and ice in the forest around me. One evening, I heard the long, mournful howl of a coyote. I realized how much I've missed the quiet of the woods and the sounds of the wildlife. It was so peaceful here a few years ago.

Hugs and love to all of you.

  • Heather - I dread to think what would have happened if my friend had been alone at home.

  • Heather  We are frequently under red-flag warnings, but the winds aren't usually as fierce as they were in LA.

Rusty:  The super-quick treatment for the stroke bodes well for your friend.  Hope you'll get some reassuring news soon.

  • @Rusty I liked your post, but not for your friend, but for you letting us know.

Prayers and Thoughts for you all, pleased she was treated so quickly, so important with a stroke, as I have said prior, " this getting old is no fun"

  • A visit to Murattis this morn with Dau & Trio. Oh, the agonizing decision, which delicious-looking tiny “cake”. Plus hot choc or juice. I said we would come again but still very hard to decide. Fortunately it was not busy and staff were patient. Trio were all smiles after. Last Xmas holiday outing was to the Aviation Museum. It will be a challenge next time to find something different and where I do not have too much standing/walking.

  • My goodness, AQ , what a marvellous selection of things - I want all of them !

  • Thanks for all your kind thoughts and prayers for my friend. Sadly, the update yesterday was not very encouraging. It sounds as if the hospital is doing everything they can but there is not much response to the treatment. Early days I know. My sister is going to visit briefly tomorrow.

Meanwhile on a beautiful but cold day, I have been out to Point of Ayr on the Welsh side of the Dee. It is always good to go birdwatching there as the tide is coming in. Naturally we went for lunch afterwards!! It didn’t seem quite right that I was enjoying myself and my poor friend was in hospital. Staying at home wouldn’t  have helped either would it?
The photo is taken from the hide at Point of Ayr. I was with the lady birders.

    Awh! Bless you Rusty,Lovely Photograph,

your friend still in your thoughts, whether at home or away, am sure you and your Sister will be beside her on hopefully her return. there will be much to reorganise.

    BIG hugs

  • Rusty:  Enjoy your time out and about.  There may be a time when you can visit your friend; you can't do anything at this point.

AQ:  Every time I ese Muratti's in your posts it maes me smile.  :-)    Re taking kiddies out and about, I want to take Ms D to the Petersen Automotive Museum in LA (but several floors/many spaces with few seats); the Space Shuttle Columbia in its new facility at the:LA Science Museum (to be completed this summer)) and - fingers crossed! - the Brea Tar Pits (undergoing a major, major upgrade which is due to  completed in 2028?!!!!)   Biy that time though, she'll be 19 and not likely to be hanging out with her 88-year-old great-nana.  Oh well.

  • HEATHER – I have bad news for you LOL – Murattis’ online selection is only a small fraction of what is available. I must take my camera next time to taunt you!

ANNETTE – The Aviation Museum was a hit with me as there were lots (and I mean lots) of old airline passenger seats scattered around the hangar. Ideal for geriatric grandmothers.

Last night I watched tennis until after 1 am (Tien vs Medvedev). Good thing I went to bed then as the match did not finish until 3 am. I can report that some nights at last, I have actually been able to sleep longer. . . and get back to sleep if I wake too early.
