HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY FULL MOON!
The first full moon of 2025, the Wolf Moon, will occur at:
10:26 pm on Monday, January 13, in UK
2:26 pm on Monday, January 13, in California
8:56 am on Tuesday, January 14, in Adelaide, Australia
I hope everyone has a good week.
During last week's snowstorm, the roads and businesses in my area were all closed. No traffic on the highway near my house. No booming loud music and yelling at the pub/bar. Just the wind in the trees and the falling snow and ice in the forest around me. One evening, I heard the long, mournful howl of a coyote. I realized how much I've missed the quiet of the woods and the sounds of the wildlife. It was so peaceful here a few years ago.
Hugs and love to all of you.
Rusty - Thank you ... my journey was slow but safe! I took a slightly longer route than usual, where the roads were OK (although difficult driving straight into the strong winter sun!) but came home over Ashdown Forest, which was not too bad. Everything was very beautiful with the frost and snow. Our temperature is now up to a dizzying 6 degrees, but it doesn't seem to be doing a lot to melt the snow and frost. I am also looking forward to hearing about the French ladies.
Diane - I too enjoy your weekly descriptions of your area, which I knew nothing about until coming on to this Forum. I also appreciate your information about the moon. We have had lovely clear skies lately, and the moon, coming up to full, accompanied by Venus, has been wonderful to see and follow.
Annette - I do hope you remain safe. The pictures we are receiving are awful ... whole areas devastated. As I drove home earlier I heard one resident saying he had already set up a builder to rebuild his home, which is now a pile of rubble.
Lindy - those pictures are amazing. Thank you for sharing them. We still have plenty of snow and ice ... and didn't have a particularly pretty sunrise.
Here is the full list of French ladies we had to choose 2 from. I think I said in my post last week that I picked 2 I had never heard of. There are a lot more than 2 I have never heard of!!!
Madame de Sévigny, Camille Claudel, Jeanne Baret, Berthe Morisot, Simone Weil, Camille du Gast, Collette, Georges Sand,
Josephine Baker, Aya Nakamura, Marguerite Yourcenar, Simone de Beauvoir, Mlle. de la Fontaine. Did I say in my previous post that some, not all, of these ladies were the good apparitions which came up out of the Seine in the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics!
Rusty: I was surprised to learn - some time back - that Josephine Baker was a spy. When you descibed the assignment I automatically thought of Odette - a Fench name but an English spy in WW11.
Lindybird: Loved the two contrasting photos of the view from your windows
PatO; Seems like you're not at all discouarged by those icy roads where otherrs might not venture. :-)
Harelady: Best wishes for your MOT.
Off to organize the world!
Interesting about the French ladies, Rusty. I only know one or two, but then I had a poor education !!
More about my Friday trip... we went to the local Hospital and my OH left me there at the door, as car parking charges are phenomenal. He collected me later. I was seen by a pleasant young staff nurse (male) who took all my Vital Signs and then set me up for my sedation. I was introduced (Christian names only) to a whole room full of people who were involved- no wonder the staff bill is high in the NHS.... However, everyone was pleasant & kind. They looked at my throat, then I went to a Recovery corner. Later after a cup of tea I was shown sheets of paper about how they had inspected my throat & upper stomach etc. They did all this three years ago but it seems they need to keep vigilant in case of anything pre cancerous appearing (my throat was damsged by bad acid reflux years ago but I'm on pills for it now).
They have taken samples & it will take "between 4 to 6 weeks" for any results of the tests. I will have forgotten about it by then!!
More pics from my window today! Note the sad forlorn pigeon waiting for the mist to lift & for me to come out with bird food!
Lindy - I do wonder why people have to wait so long for test results. It’s an unfair thing to make worried patients have to do. Fingers crossed that all is OK for you.
