HAPPY NEW WEEK!
I apologize, folks. I usually like to start the week with a positive, uplifting post, but I'm not in a good mood this evening.
My area is under a major Winter Storm Warning for tomorrow and Monday. This is a massive storm that will stretch 1,300 miles and affect 62 million people. My region of Indiana is in the swath predicted to get the most snow. For some reason, the National Weather Service has been unable to pinpoint the track, snow totals, and ice accumulation for central Indiana, but it appears that I could get over a foot of snow (31 centimeters). We've been warned that travel may be impossible, power outages will occur, and high winds may cause extensive drifting.
After the storm, the polar vortex will settle here and bring dangerous arctic cold. I'm worried that my roof can't hold that much snow, plus my old house will get too cold.
I stocked up on groceries and water today.
Annette said that the UK is also expecting bad weather. I wish you all well.
Love and hugs to all.

So glad to hear that everyone is OK - it's been a bad few days everywhere, it seems - I also saw Diane's post on FBook so was reassured. Great news, Diane!
We awoke to fresh snow today, which was a shock. It also snowed again this afternoon & everywhere is white over to several inches deep .
View from kitchen window.
Brown part is a flood -- over a quarter of our garden still under water!!
Am watching NBC news online coverage of the fire in Pacific Palisades (which has just reached the beach) plus a new one near Pasadena - and the worst of the winds isn't due for another couple of hours. We are calm here with no bad winds expected....
ANNETTE: Oh, my! THAT'S HORRIFIC. I just heard about the worsening conditions there on NPR, and I looked it up online. The windstorm and the growing fires. I think they are also now evacuating areas of Santa Monica? I assume that you are far enough away that the fires won't reach you even if the winds continue to worsen???
I've been watching the winter storm here in the east, and I didn't see this situation in the west develop. Hope you stay safe. Very sorry for all the people there.
Diane: I can't believe the winds aound LA! Wind gusts between 60-90 mph. NBC crew was just driving north on PCH through Malibu - house after house on fire. And videos showing firefighters with hoses sraying burning trees and having zero affect at all due to the winds. And yes, parts of Santa Monica are being evacuated. We are ifne, although this reminds me of the Thomas Fire a few years back in Ventura/Montecito. Grandson is with CalFire which is taking over the incident management so he'll be on call. Glad you and your house are okay back there in the snow and ice!
So glad DIANE is OK and has a neighbour watching out for her. Now I have to worry about ANNETTE and her g-son. Tonight’s news of CAL fires really terrifying.
I did smile at the group trapped in the highest ENG pub. Enough food for a month but only enough beer for 2 weeks.
I lost Tuesday this week. I was merrily planning what I would do on Wednesday when I discovered late this afternoon that it was already Wed. I even checked the newspaper date because I was not convinced. Tomorrow morn I shall dash out early for fresh fruit & veg and bread as we are heating up again. (LINDA, please send me some of that snow.)
More tennis watching tonight – the lead-up tournaments to the Aussie Open. I have not been watching regularly for a long time and I hardly know who is who.
DIANE God Bless your neighbour with his tall pick up truck ! Am really thankful to read everyone's post concerning how you are and your own post .
Annette: It makes me so cross to read about such horrendous conditions especially when I now know (having read a factual scientific article somewhere, possibly the Epoch Times ) that sound can put out fires, something to do with the frequency. Why are those who can do so not addressing this fact with action.
Thinking of you Annette with positive thoughts and all those in LA and Santa Monica .
