HAPPY NEW WEEK!
I apologize, folks. I usually like to start the week with a positive, uplifting post, but I'm not in a good mood this evening.
My area is under a major Winter Storm Warning for tomorrow and Monday. This is a massive storm that will stretch 1,300 miles and affect 62 million people. My region of Indiana is in the swath predicted to get the most snow. For some reason, the National Weather Service has been unable to pinpoint the track, snow totals, and ice accumulation for central Indiana, but it appears that I could get over a foot of snow (31 centimeters). We've been warned that travel may be impossible, power outages will occur, and high winds may cause extensive drifting.
After the storm, the polar vortex will settle here and bring dangerous arctic cold. I'm worried that my roof can't hold that much snow, plus my old house will get too cold.
I stocked up on groceries and water today.
Annette said that the UK is also expecting bad weather. I wish you all well.
Love and hugs to all.

Agree, LINDY !
I'm thinking about DIANE and her little house. Hope all is well.
Sorry no replies, I'm brooding about my washing machine which is not spinning properly - have phoned engineer. It's a first world problem, as ANNETTE would say !
I hope everyone is doing OK despite some wintry weather here in the UK.
DIANE is OK and her house doesn't seem to be damaged. Twelve inches of snow and power outages but she has power. Shops, businesses, schools may still be closed. I hope that my friends on here are alright.
Thank you HEATHER for posting that. Glad Diane is OK. I am sure we were all thinking of her, being on her own in such a vulnerable position.
HEATHER Thank you, good to know that DIANE is ok.
Good news about Diane. Thanks Heather. I got back from Norfolk last night. Today I have been shovelling snow!! Lots to tell about my holiday when I get caught up.
Morning all: Good news re diane. :-) Hope all in the UK survived the storm (although is the one Diane just had about to head across the Pond? Meanwhile, we have red flag warnings in the hills behind and farther south due to high dry winds from the desert. Our weather forecaster has started showing the drought maps again.... sigh. Everyone in the family vertical as of this morning. Tomorrow am having coffee with friend I haven't seen in months....
Heather: Hope your washer can be sorted with minimal hassle and money!
Thank you, Heather! And thank you to Pat, Annette, AQ, SunnyKate, Cirrus, dibnlib, Lindy, Rosy, and Rusty! I appreciate so much your very kind caring and concern.
I made it through the storm okay. My roof is holding up. My power is on. Schools and businesses were still closed today, and overworked snow plow drivers are trying to clear the drifted roads. Lots of crashes/accidents. My kind neighbor drove his tall pickup truck down my driveway lane, so I can walk in the tire tracks instead of trudging through the deep, drifted snow to get my mail.
I hope you are all safe in the bad UK weather. Thanks again, all.
Annette: I hope you won't have any forest fires and you get rain to alleviate the drought.
Diane: Reassuring to know your neighbors are keeping an eye out for you. There's already a fire in Pacific Palisades, just northwest of LA on the coast. Weather is quiet here.
