Happy New Week and Happy New Month
AND
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
You are all dear to me, and I wish you all joy, peace, love, and wonder in 2025.
We will close out the year with a rare "black moon." That's the second new moon in a single month.
The moon turns new on:
30 December at 2:26 p.m. in California
30 December at 10:26 p.m. in UK
31 December at 8:56 a.m. in Adelaide, Australia
Nice to have a brand new moon to start the new year!
Honestly, this has been a bad year for me personally and for the US collectively/nationally. I'm danged glad to see 2024 in the rear-view mirror. LOL
Love and hugs to all.
A very happy and peaceful New Year to all.
Very Happy New Year to one and all.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2025. I managed to miss the fireworks! Went to sleep around 10.00pm and woke up at arouond 2.30am. It was a very windy night - and still blowing hard, with rain. Oh joy!! Sun and very cold promised for tomorrow ... we'll see!
Best Wishes to All - I watched the fireworks in NZ & AUS last night plus some others, then we retired to bed to see the London ones, but without a drink in hand as usual, as I had cooked a slow cook beef stew which we enjoyed followed by a cheesecake. However, an hour or two later we both felt decidedly queasy and couldn't face any of the snacks I had to hand, nor a drink except for water!!
Ended up with a plastic bowl nearby each for the night, in case of sickness. Thankfully neither of us were ill. I blame the bought cheesecake which had cream in it. Ugh.
Today my OH is recovered, but delicate little me is struggling to fancy anything for lunch. Bah! And no idea if I will fancy a meal tonight. I actually lost weight over the festivities, (unheard of!) probably because I only had very small portions of whatever was on offer. I adore chocolates but daren't eat much between meals these days.
Our sons only celebrated at home as they are both parents of course. Very quiet in our road until just before midnight then a terrible cacophony of fireworks all around, including some from a "Stately Home" not far away where there must have been an event of some sort.
We all went to bed,and missed anything which might have happened ! Changed days, my OH insisted on keeping the old custom of open house on ( or is it at) Hogmanay. I hated it, even though years of night duty meant that staying awake was no problem. I just could never feel jolly ! Anyway, I would never have spoilt things for him. This evening my eldest daughter, her OH and Katie will be here for dinner.
I hope that you will soon feel better, LINDY.
Thank you. It's not obligatory to "see in the N. Year" Heather <hugs> Enjoy your dinner with your family today.
Years ago in our earlier house, my OH used to pop out of the house at about 12.05 and see if any of our neighbours needed him to "first foot" -- where a dark haired man carrying a piece of coal used to be the 1st over the doorstep. The dark hair is gone now, & no one ever comes out anyway!!
We heard heavy rain in the night. This is the view of half of our garden today!! My poor daffodil bulbs!
Gosh LINDY,- that's one heck of a lot of water. I hope that RUSTY doesn't have problems in Norfolk - or travelling there.
Heather - thanks for thinking of me! We were so lucky that the rain had dried up for our travels although the roads were wet and there was a lot of spray. Extremely light traffic. No lorries on the M6. Can you imagine that?We arrived at 3, met our guides and went out birding for an hour (as you do!!)
