Happy New Week and Happy New Month

                                 AND

                   HAPPY NEW YEAR!

You are all dear to me, and I wish you all joy, peace, love, and wonder in 2025.

We will close out the year with a rare "black moon." That's the second new moon in a single month.

The moon turns new on:

30 December at 2:26 p.m. in California

30 December at 10:26 p.m. in UK

31 December at 8:56 a.m. in Adelaide, Australia

Nice to have a brand new moon to start the new year!

Honestly, this has been a bad year for me personally and for the US collectively/nationally. I'm danged glad to see 2024 in the rear-view mirror. LOL

Love and hugs to all.

  • Another mild day and I managed several short sessions in garden. I pruned back neighbour’s hedge that is waving on my side. With a hoe I hooked most of the west neighbor’s bamboos that were slapping my gutters and managed to cut them somewhat shorter. I swept up mess and discovered a tall bamboo shoot on my side of the fence between fence & side path. I gave it a dose of blackberry killer and re-dosed the nasty shrub. That guarantees rain even though none forecast. I food shopped for perishables – shop was crazy with starving people!

News from Dau that she & Trio will come for lunch Thursday. . . and collect their Xmas gifts. I haven’t eaten their chocs; safely still in fridge.

  • AQ - you sound very industrious with all that work in the garden. Enjoy the visit from Dau and Trio on Thursday.
OG - enjoy the haggis. I think the weather is going to be rather wild up there.

May I wish everyone a Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year. I am setting off early in the morning on my short birdwatching holiday in Norfolk so won’t be posting for about a week. I am just hoping that the weather might have calmed down a bit by then as it is a long drive. The lady I am going with is driving as her car is much younger than mine!! She is very kind to do so.

  • Rusty - Hope you have a wonderful birding trip.  At the moment the weather doesn't look too bad for you once you arrive, although the drive might be a bit hairy.  I have visited a few birding places in Norfolk over the years.  Suggest wellies and waterproofs ... and that's just in the summer!  Looking forward to hearing about it on your return.

OG - I envy you your haggis.  I've just got the knuckle end of gammon today - it has been delicious, a treat I haven't had for ages.

AQ - I might need to brave the supermarket this morning, as I'm almost out of fruit and vegetables.  With a Bank Holiday tomorrow, I imagine people will once again be preparing for a siege ... can't understand the panic when the shops are going to be closed for just one day.

Wishing everyone a peaceful 2025, with plenty of joy and health.  And please - may it go a little more slowly than 2024, which seemed to have whizzed through while I wasn't looking!!

  • I love the detail you put into informational posts like this Diane.  Thank you. I hadn't heard of 'black moons' before !  And I most certainly wish you joy, peace, love, and wonder in 2025 too.. Especially the Wonder    Hugging       That's got to be good . Wishing you  prosperity in every area of your life Diane  - - physically, emotionally, socially, financially and spiritually.

  • HEATHER/PAT/OG    just to conclude about "Chrissie"  My Grandpa died in the mid 70s and many years later Grandma was persuaded to move into some lovely new sheltered housing.  She was the first resident and her pic was on the front of the courier when she was given the keys.....she was so proud.  Not long after she had a stroke and had to be hospitalised.  She was never fit enough to return to her home...........the memory makes me sad.   Life can be tough.

  • Sorry I've been absent- I'm OK, just tired. Its all been a bit much for me. We were both tired after our trip South & then it was the weekend- we had drinks at a neighbours house on Sunday lunchtime - it was lovely to have our new, young neighbours included.

Then yesterday we went South again but not so far this time, to see our Youngest and his family. They were all excited to have more presents! I had made some very large cheese straw type snacks this time.

Here is little Rosie age 5, thrilled with her new 'onesie outfit but also just as excited to be allowed to get into a cardboard box!!

  • Sorry to hear that some of us are unwell: I wish Everyone Good Health for 2025 and All that You Desire to Come.

  • Good to hear from you LINDY - I'm not surprised you are tired !

AQ - even after all the years I have to remember that you are in a different time zone ! You are picking tomatoes and I'm trying to buy some that have at least a bit of flavour. I don't keep them in the fridge but ....

RUSTY - wishing you a lovely holiday. Looking forward to hearing about it.

PAT - - Agree about the busy shops. Yes, you really would think that they were going to be closed for days and days!

OG - I wonder if J has had the results of his colonoscopy yet ?

DIBNLIB - so sad that your grandmother couldn't enjoy the well deserved rest after all her hard work.

My 6 year old granddaughter has settled down somewhat   thank goodness ! I am very tired though. I try to have an afternoon nap but just can't relax my ever busy brain.

ANNETTE is very quiet - I hope things are OK with them.

  • HAPPY NEW YEAR!

PAT – Obviously if the shops close for one day, one must buy enough for a month.

LINDA – The most wonderful gift of all – the cardboard box.  It allows imagination to run wild.

HEATHER – I only have tomatoes (picking 1-2 a day), chives & rocket. Too much water needed and I am just keeping the shrubs & lawn barely alive.

It was very quiet last eve. Some fireworks at midnight. No “rabble” roaming the suburb’s streets as 20 years ago. And no one up and about this morn. Only moi.

  • Here's to a healthy and harmonious 2025 for everyoone on the thread, lurkers included.

All well here, just recuperating from a too-busy year and  hoping thins get back to the 'old' normal this coming year.

Hugs to all; be safe and happy..
