Happy New Week and Happy New Month

                                 AND

                   HAPPY NEW YEAR!

You are all dear to me, and I wish you all joy, peace, love, and wonder in 2025.

We will close out the year with a rare "black moon." That's the second new moon in a single month.

The moon turns new on:

30 December at 2:26 p.m. in California

30 December at 10:26 p.m. in UK

31 December at 8:56 a.m. in Adelaide, Australia

Nice to have a brand new moon to start the new year!

Honestly, this has been a bad year for me personally and for the US collectively/nationally. I'm danged glad to see 2024 in the rear-view mirror. LOL

Love and hugs to all.

  • Diane:  Thank you.  So sorry it's beeen a tough year for you, compuunded by the election results; however, he's not even in office and  the chaos and divisions within his own party and conistituents is well underway.  It wouuld be nice if we could sit and watch the train wreck, except some of us are on that train too.  Hugs from here. And thanks ofr the info on the black moon - have never heard of that.

Have been reading posts and sending best thoughts to those of you with various health and other issues.  Do hope things settle for us all soon.

  • Thank you DIANE. Please may the brand new moon bring us a pleasant New Year. 2024 is best packed up and “put to bed”!!!

ANNETTE & DIANE – We watch the strange events across the ocean with amazement. Enough said.

I wish a speedy recovery to ALL who are not well or have family/friends unwell.

Of course, hot cross bums were available on Boxing Day <sigh> in a feeble protest I refuse to buy any until Easter.

My χmas could have been better. Having had to ask to be invited, I discovered since my days hosting the lunch, it has been dragged out longer. I left at 2.30 pm to drive home before the afternoon rush. . . and the pudding was still cooking!!! At home I had a nanny nap and for my evening meal a turkey sandwich & glass of wine – the best part of the day. Dau#2 told me later that the Trio were upset that opening of presents was delayed until quite late in afternoon; glad I did not wait.

Yesterday Dau#1, s-i-l & g-son visited me. S-i-l cleaned air con filters (too high for me to reach safely), adjusted door closing on new fridge and adjusted front door lock which had been misbehaving.

I don’t know when Dau#2 & Trio are coming. They are tired with end of school year, visits with their father and I understand the Trio just want to vegetate at home to play with new toys. Plenty of days to come NYE or NY. I’m adaptable as they are no trouble.

Yestermorn I began early, watering dried up lawn. Then it rained, a very nice 4 mm. I have picked 3 more tomatoes. Yum, tasty tomato sandwiches on the menu. Our weather is lovely & cool, low 20s. Not warming up until next Saturday.

  • Sorry. I don't know why the above is bold print.

  • AQ - so sorry that your Christmas Day was something of a disappointment. And OG also. I hope that things improve.

I put myself to bed at a ridiculously early hour last night but slept well and am now ready to face the day!  Granddaughter and I have reached an understanding ( I hope).  I have been thinking and remember that I was an overactive and excitable child. My brother was the quiet one. My son was much the same as Sam and his little sister. I was the older child, My son the same. Sam and Emilia are respectively the oldest and youngest in the family. My mother used to try and beat me into submission. I can remember cowering in the corner to try to escape the blows. I tried to teach my son what was acceptable behaviour ( not by physical means!) and to some extent, succeeded. Jumping on the furniture etc was a definite NO ! My Daughter in law has the patience of a saint but just gives up and tends to give in. She is ,herself, a quiet and placid person and I'm extremely fond of her.

  • Thank you Diane. I am very sorry that you had such a bad year this year and do hope that next year will be much better.

Heather - always good to think things through.
My cold is progressing and is stuck in my sinuses!! Yuk!!! As my Sunday walking friend is away visiting her daughter, I am going to take myself to the nearest stretch of water on the Dee estuary and have a nice walk on the shore path. Naturally I will take my binoculars and see what is about. I am hoping the fresh air may do some good.

  • Hope you feel better soon, RUSTY. And the same for DIBNLIB and her OH.

  • Thanks HEATHER.  Sorry there are so many tales of woe and hope things brighten up for everyone soo.  RUSTY  Enjoy your walk and hope you see plenty.  I can't remember if I mentioned that my birthday gift from my OH was a monocular.  We do have a very good quality pair of binoculars (RSPB) but the benefit of the monocular is that it fits in a pocket and is much lighter weight.

  • Dibnlib - my friend has a monocular because she has only ever had sight in one eye. It works well for her.

My trip to the Dee Estuary was a success. I think it cleared my sinuses a bit and I saw some good birds. The best was a pair of great crested grebes. One came up with a huge fish after a dive.

    Being over-excited doesn't excuse this.  I don't have words.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
