HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I just returned from Indianapolis. I stayed a couple of extra days to care for the dogs. My friends became ill on their last day of the trip, and were sick and feverish when their plane landed. Testing doesn't yet show Covid, but that's what the symptoms indicate.

I had an interesting experience at their house early this morning. I was sitting on their couch putting on make-up. Suddenly, I heard a LOUD bang against the large window behind me. I jumped at the sound. I looked to see a very large female red-tailed hawk sitting on the deck next to the window. She was only about 3 feet from me, and she looked me right in the eyes. I watched to make sure she recovered, and she seemed to be fine as she flew away. She must have been chasing prey and didn't see the glass. I'm glad she was okay. She was such a beautiful, majestic bird.

I've been REALLY busy with the dogs, and haven't been online. The little English setter is 18 years old and not in good health. I'm going back now and catch up on your news.

Everyone have a good week!

  • Sorry to hear you have pulled a muscle LINDY these things can take time to heal.

As with you I felt only relief when Mum died.  She had been diagnosed with alzheimers 12 years previously and had become a shell of herself, existing not living.  She no longer knew who I was and although I felt I was prepared for that it knocked me for six.

Thanks for your words about Erica.

RUSTY  love your snow pics, thank you.

AQ those sound like good ideas.

  • Hope that OG is alright, I don't think that she has posted for a while. My friends are in the kitchen, cooking frikadeller( meatballs made from pork ). I have been instructed to sit down !

  • Rusty:  Amazed at the snow.  Isn't it a bit early for that much?   Oh Lord - Christmas cards - and in French yet!!  I barely manage to get anything out the door in English.

AQ:  Funeral is at 8:45 p.m. our time, so I'll definitely be with you too!  Good you're avoiding difficult relatives.  When my sister died 2+ years back, my nephew left two days after for a planned vacation in Spain with his family saying his Mom wouldn't have wanted him to cancel it.  He left my newly bereaved Bil and niece to make all the arrangements (this after years of them caring for her as she deteriorated).   I helped them write/rewrite the eulogy from 6K miles away.  He arrived back the day before the funeral and his wife sent my niece a text asking if there was anything she needed?     It caused a rift between niece and nephew that has only deepened over time.  He rarely visits his father and I'm wondering at what point he'll regret it, probably when it's too late.

Heather:  I'm sitting down; so pleae tell Danish friends can cook for me too.   Hope you're enjoying the viist; I remember you saying that the OH could be a tad opinionated....

Lindybird: Pulled muscles are painful  My shoulder was giving me a lot of trouble earlier this year after all the work on the condo where granddaughter now lives.  It was almost back to normal but has flared up big time again.  Such a bore.

    Take care everyone.

  • I typed a reply just after Heathers post, and it disappeared!

I was saying to Heather that I hope she enjoys the frikadeller (nice name), And to definitely do as instructed!

It has been raining non stop here today, and is just above freezing. I have not ventured out.

  • It worked that time.

I hope you are recovering from the pulled muscle, Lindy. Mattresses can be tricky. I bought a new one fairly recently, and if I prop myself up on my elbow I am in danger of propelling myself out of bed! I did once and banged my ear on the bedside cabinet. Please do not try to picture the scene. It was not pretty!

Like Heather, I was also thinking of OG.
