HAPPY NEW WEEK!
I just returned from Indianapolis. I stayed a couple of extra days to care for the dogs. My friends became ill on their last day of the trip, and were sick and feverish when their plane landed. Testing doesn't yet show Covid, but that's what the symptoms indicate.
I had an interesting experience at their house early this morning. I was sitting on their couch putting on make-up. Suddenly, I heard a LOUD bang against the large window behind me. I jumped at the sound. I looked to see a very large female red-tailed hawk sitting on the deck next to the window. She was only about 3 feet from me, and she looked me right in the eyes. I watched to make sure she recovered, and she seemed to be fine as she flew away. She must have been chasing prey and didn't see the glass. I'm glad she was okay. She was such a beautiful, majestic bird.
I've been REALLY busy with the dogs, and haven't been online. The little English setter is 18 years old and not in good health. I'm going back now and catch up on your news.

AQ - I'm pleased your arrangements seem to be progressing. Difficult to please everyone on an occasion like that. But you are the most important person and hopefully others wilkl respect your choices. If you would like to let us know the date and time of the service we can think about you and hold you in support so you know you're not alone. Take care.

What a great thing to be able to say, dibnlib! "Always a lovely smile on her face" - such a super lady. I admire her tremendously.
AQ - I understand your feelings as my Mother had a major stroke in the year 2000 and we struggled on with her care, triumphs and setbacks for years until she died peacefully in 2008. By then I was unable to shed a tear. (Although tears filled my eyes when I saw some of the Care Home staff at her funeral) It was just relief that she was gone, for her sake.
I hope you can get the funeral organised without too many disagreements as it's a difficult time. Are you providing a "refreshments" afterwards? Are you involved with that or are you going to hire someone to do it?
It's just been announced that one of our local funeral directors has himself, died. He was famous in the town for organising and officiating at hundreds and hundreds of local funerals. Many comments online saying how enormously kind and helpful he was. How valued. He even attended many funerals after his retirement, simply because he had known the deceased.
I've been ironing as so much needed a press after our holiday and I like to put things away ready for use again. Hoping to take up my pen and get a start on the Christmas cards soon. I've been nursing a pulled muscle in my side - another souvenir, as the super duper room we were allotted to had a giant bed with one of those strange mattresses which you sink into!! It wasn't that wonderful as we soon learned that you can't turn over in the night without an effort & I had great difficulty. On the last night I pulled a muscle trying to get out of bed in the small hours. Bah!!
My garden lights are lighting up the snow!!!
