HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I'm in Indianapolis taking care of 5 dogs. Talk to you all later.

Everybody have a good week. Love and hugs to all.

  • No problem OG - after all, freedom of speech is one of the things we defended !

  • Not offended OG - we are all different.

  • I seem to have posted a photo yesterday without explanation- probably had to get ready for dinner or something.

It was one of the few remaining observation towers built here many centuries ago. It says on the notice nearby that it was "restored & rebuilt" in 1769!!

We went to see a posh hotel near It  which we have been intrigued about - I'll have to look up the cost of staying there as it was very impressive- cool inside and with interesting architecture. Probably out of our league!!

We continue to enjoy good weather and its been almost too hot - thankfully we've been able to retreat in and out of our comfortable room and sit partly in shade when needed.

  • Lindy - Glad to hear you are making the most of your lovely room.  We have actually seen some light in the sky for the past couple of days ... someone said it's called sunshine.  Enjoy your warmth and luxury.

  • Heather - I completely agree with what you said about freedom of speech.

Lindy - your upgraded room sounds ideal for a lovely relaxing break.

Pat - es. We have seen that “bright object in the sky” too. It lifts the spirits.

2 good days to report. I enjoyed French yesterday. The lady who took the lesson had been to County Kerry in Ireland where she and her OH had discovered a quirky monorail. It was the eccentric idea of some chap. He had it built and then realised that, being a monorail on a raided track, you couldn’t put in level crossings like they do for regular trains. Consequently, he had to fork out for bridges to be built. These days, a short bit of the track has been restored for tourists to ride on.
Today I went with the Flora and Fauna group to a local forest. We were searching for fungus which are a bit thin on the ground this year. We found about a dozen different ones and had fun trying to identify them. (Almost impossible!!!) The photo is of a sort of bracket fungus with some red resin coming out of it (enlarge it to see properly) The birding highlight was a group of about 12 crossbills feeding on pine cones. The light was great and we had brilliant prolonged views.
