HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I hope everyone has a good week.

The harvest is nearly complete here in my area. The leaves have almost all fallen off the trees, and they're dry and crunchy. Indiana has had the 3rd driest October in recorded history and the driest since 1964. My county is officially in drought, and there's a burn ban and red flag warnings because of the elevated fire risk and high winds. Lots of field, brush, and forest fires in my region. Just a few miles north of me is "severe drought". All very, very unusual for my state. We usually have the autumn rains.

The birds that migrate have left. The pileated woodpecker is staying the winter in the woods across from my front door. I'm continuing to leave apples for the groundhog. He hasn't begun hibernation yet.

Love and hugs to all.

  • Goodness!! Lots of long posts and I dont have time just now for replies yet....

We are installed in our hotel and its pretty good....on arrival late last night, we checked in & were told by the man behind the desk  "It's a nice suite!" -- we were not surprised as we'd paid extra for a 'junior suite" which means you get a larger room with a sofa area. But when we got into our room... .. Wow!!  We'd had an upgrade. A large lounge area. A separate bedroom with an  e n o r m o u s bed big enough I said, for 4!! The balcony is big enough to hold a party!! Best of all, fantastic views across to neighbouring islands and our own lounger beds so we can relax without going down to the pool area if we want to.

I'm pleased mostly for my OH as he can relax and enjoy.

AQ -- Sorry your OH had another fall. I suppose its hard for the staff to keep an eye on everyone all the time. Great that you met your long time friend.

  • Bottom is the bar/cafe for outside dining. Then above that, two nice rooms. Above them-  us! Huge balcony just a pity our family can't join us!!

  • View from our balcony of the sea, boats and islands- biggest one is Fuerteventura where we were last March.

  • Lindy - how fabulous. You both deserve it after all the worries you have had. Just relax and enjoy now.

Annette - I am breathless after reading your post. I will reply tomorrow when I have recovered!!!

  • Annette - I too was out of breath when I had finished reading your post.  Thank goodness the family is now close by, although it sounds as though you are acting as a taxi service as well.  I hope you get a decent offer on the other house.  People do try stupidly low offers.  Perhaps they will have a rethink and come back with something more sensible.

Lindy - seems as though you will have a lovely holiday.  Enjoy the luxury - you've both had a tough time lately.

Diane - I always enjoy the stories of your critters and your area.  Sounds wonderful - but quite hard work.  Awful about the drought.  I had no idea.

I think the whole world is holding its breath about the result of the US election.  I only hope it's a clear result and that there is no rioting.  What is needed is a good dose of common sense.  Over coffee after church yesterday there was a comment - out of more than 330million people, surely they could have come up with a better choice?  Anyway, I wish all our friends across the pond a safe, peaceful and clear cut result, and that the next four years will be filled with humility and common sense.

  • My hairdresser is coming and I have to take the car in the get the rust done, but I just wanted to come on to say that I am thinking of all of you in the US and echoing Pat’s wishes for a safe, peaceful and clear cut result to your election. Also, may I dare to say - with the right result.

  • Fingers crossed that the USA election is peaceful. I see they erected barriers in places where there might be disruption.

  • Wow. that looks lovely LINDY.
