HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY FULL MOON!

The full moon is Thursday, 17 October, in US and UK. It's a really close Supermoon.

The Covered Bridge Festival began yesterday in my area. Two million people from Indiana and across the country will visit at least one of the festival small towns to buy arts and crafts, enjoy country foods, take bus tours, and see the covered bridges. This weekend, we have weirdly warm weather and glorious sunshine, so our highways have bumper to bumper, slow-crawling traffic and there are crowds everywhere.

i intend to remain holed up at home until the festival is over on the 20th. I went to the doctor last week, and I took the opportunity to stock up on groceries. Yesterday. I walked to the convenience store on the highway and bought drinking water, so I'm all set to stay on my patch for the duration. I gave the groundhog a carrot today.

The festival is a badly needed boost for our rural economy, but I'll be glad when it's over.

Hugs and love to everyone!

  • Been unwell and missed my visits here - and now have to get busy with church mag for next month!  Sorry!

ANNETTE - I do remember some things - so lovely that you can enjoy school performances now thwt MsD lives nearby!  Thinking of poor Billy the goat - I hope he will soon recover his normal health in his new home.

Had email from Scotish Power today reminding us we are on the priority list if the coming storm brings anything our way - had forgotten I qualify for that!   All okay so far..

Now must stop to transcribe Church Gardener's poem - about winter!

  • Sorry you have been unwell OG. Glad you are now well enough to tackle the church magazine - again!!
Nice that people are googling Calon Lan.

Another thing for you to Google now! Yesterday my sister and brother in law took me to Speke Hall at my request as a birthday present. I don’t need actual items these days and what I really enjoy and value is the company of friends and family. It is a National Trust property just outside Liverpool right next to the airport!! If you read about it, sadly, it was built on slave trade money as are many of the grand buildings in Liverpool itself. We are members of the National Trust so my sister and b in l just paid for my coffee and then a light lunch. We were very lucky with the weather as we walked round the forest trail and then round the more formal gardens. I liked the interior of the hall. It was rather cosy. There were volunteers in most rooms who were very keen to talk about the artefacts and the history.

  • Thank you, RUSTY for the pictures - glad that you had a good visit

Sorry that you've been unwell, OG. I noticed your absence, and guessed the reason.  Lets hope that you stay well for the magazine.

DIANE - thank you for the good advice re the Kindle. Because its new, I hadn't anticipated problems ! Updated isn't always better - I find this one more complicated to navigate around !

ANNETTE - I'm sorry that your OH has still got BPV. I had a spell of it a number of years ago. Most unpleasant. The dizziness that I get nowadays, sometimes, is due to postural hypotension.  Actually, it isn't as nasty as when I had the BPV. That caused a horrible spinning sensation, and nausea, even when just turning in bed.

Middle daughter and her daughter Amy are popping in today, with some shopping.  Its always good to see the younger family members !

  • Heather - enjoy the visit from some of your family today. I have a confession to make to you!! I had to look up how to spell the name of the aqueduct!! I could have had a good go at it but I wanted to make sure I got it right. I can say it though!!!

  • Well RUSTY - at least you can say the word - I don't suppose anyone else in our little group can !
