HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY NEW MONTH and HAPPY NEW MOON!
The new moon (the dark moon) is Monday in the UK/US. It's also Labor Day in the US. That's the unofficial first day of autumn here.
I have no wildlife stories or personal news to impart. I spent the past week sitting on my bed and perspiring. We broke our daily records for high heat and humidity, and I accomplished nothing except watching the corn sweat.
Yes, corn "sweats". When the temps and humidity are this high, the corn takes in and releases water to keep itself cool. A single stalk of corn can release over 4 cups of water per day. An acre of corn can release 4,000 gallons of water in a day. My area has massive corn farms. They all had dense fog full of moisture hanging over the fields. The scene looked apocalyptic.
The poor wildlife were miserable.
I am making a To-Do list for next week, because we are supposed to cool down, and I'll be able to move and breathe. :-)
Everyone have a good week. Hugs and love to you all.
Bonnie enjoyed her stay!
AQ - good news! So pleased for you all.
Back to our normal day out today! I have decided I must eat a different choice next time we go to that particular garden centre - need to change before I decide to "go off" prawns!
Been stumbling about a lot recently with both legs bad, but not so bad today - one was so bad one night that I kept us all awake screaming.
LINDY lovely pic of Bonnie. OG Hope the legs keep improving.
Bad start to the day but feeling more normal now. Just been slicing the runner beans for dinner – E-E can’t do them! Having them about five times each week – wonderful!
After yesterday’s trip out, today seems quiet. Aldi is closing for 5-day refurbishment – Sunday to Friday – so a few adjustments to shopping lists. OH has been outside hoeing while I sat reading – very warm here but not a lot of blue sky. At least it is dry with warm breeze.
I visited OH yesterday; he is in the secure unit, no more wandering unaccompanied. Nurse came in to ask if he wanted to go outside, he doubtful, I said yes. They have a sunny sheltered verandah overlooking the garden. Lots of birdsong. Patients were being escorted by a Nurse around the many paths, while others just sat to watch or snooze. No Nurse for OH as I could escort him (he has a walker). At times there were 4 nurses “on guard”. Dau#1 had called here to collect items to decorate his room. His room faces north (sunny in Aussieland) with garden view.
Anyone for whales?
AQ: Thank you for upliting story! Does OH seem okay with his new place? Sounds nice with the gardens, birds, etc.
ANNETTE - Nurse told me OH had been weepy (not like him normally) but he was OK with me yesterday but who knows how it will go.
AQ: Hard all round. :-(
AQ It sounds a delightful place. I do hope your OH settles in so you can all put your minds at rest.
