RESUMÉ FOR MAY 2024
The new couple’s relationship has continued to grow. They have worked hard together to maintain and strengthen their nest, bringing in new materials daily. Both birds have been catching fish and sharing these with each other. They have also shared incubation and developed strategies to get each other off the eggs when needed! They have also defended their nest from intruders, the most traumatic being when Blue 432, Eshells, a 3 year old returner from Kielder visited on the 9th of May.. Blue 372 fought hard to keep her place on the nest as she was continually chased and dive bombed in Blue 432’s bid to oust her. The eggs were left unattended for around 3 1/2 hours. Luckily it was a warm evening so hopefully no damage done. The most exciting visit came from dear KA9 (22), Gelert, son of LJ2 and LM6 when he arrived on the morning of the 25th of May. It was a short visit as he was soon ushered away by LJ2.
Spiffin Thanks so much Scylla. Canuck will be really chuffed
scylla said:Many thanks for CANUCK for requesting this footage from shortly after the hatch video - showing 372's "alarm" at realising she had a live critter among her eggs
Wow - 372's reaction was extremely similar to 5F's (Seren) at Clywedog in May 2020 when she saw her chick for the first time!
Many thanks for all the super updates. Congratulations to ALL!
What lovely videos to wake up to Scylla, thank you so much.Little bob does look strong and lively and 372 is very demonstrative of her emotions, just like when she laid her first egg!

LJ2 arrived with a small piece of bark. 372 let him know that it’s a fish he needs to bring.
09.34 372 saw LJ2 coming in. She was fish calling loudly.
09.36 LJ2 released the piece of bark and walked round 372 and over her tail to the other side of the nest.
09.37 372 continued fish calling. LJ2 picked up a small stick and placed it partially on 372’s back. He wanted to swap over.
09.38 LJ2 stood at the nest edge pondering. 372 was asking for fish.
09.39 LJ2 quietly vocalised and flew off
372 reminded him to bring a fish back.
10.31 372 left for a quick comfort break.
and back 21 seconds later.
10.32 She pottered about for a wee bit.
10.33 then had several attempts before settling down safely over her chick.
10.34 372 lifted the empty shell and dropped it towards the edge of the nest.
10.35 Settled down now.

You were at the pre party last night Wendy!
12.28 LJ2 brought in a small fish.
372 collected it
The feed was initially obscured.
12.30 LJ2 flew off to chase a nearby crow.
12.32 372 adjusted position and could be seen giving the bob a few pieces of fish.
12.33
12.34
12.36 “Can I have more please?”
“Okay dear, eat up!”
The feed was a bit start and stop as 372 was learning as she went. She is almost tip-toeing around the nest, not sure where to put her feet. She accidentally stepped on the bob and later, an egg and the fright she got was visible, instantly jumping back the second she knew. She’s trying so hard.
