Maya and 33(11) have taken turns incubating their precious eggs and we should see the first hatch towards the end of the first week in May.
They’re mostly always good fish here.
Evening. Thanks for updates.
I'm travelling home from Aviemore just now. Felt sad passing Dunkeld, looking at the forest and thinking of Laddie.
But on a more cheerful note, had a quick peek and I think #2 #3 is currently hatching.
Wont be long if not already.
Catch up later
Exciting news Karen, thanks

Oh Aviemore’s lovely Karen. I think you’ll always have a sadness when passing Dunkeld, you’ve got so many good memories there. ️ I’m trying to think of it like Laddie had 15 or 16 years on this earth and made his mark. Most of our birds pass in their early years and never get the chance to breed. It still hurts though.
I’m super excited that our first chick of the year is on its way out.
,
I've had a close look at the eggs 20:25 & 20:26 but can't see anything but graininess and quiveriness. That's typical, we need Karen to have a look.
It's still hard to believe that dear Laddie isn't going to come home
IMAGICAT
Evening everyone. Home now!!
I was travelling back by bus and I checked on my phone. I was so sure I saw a little hole - even showed my friends who agreed as we were excited - but I can't see it now.
A phone is not the best view so I don't know what I saw.
But Maya is very, very unsettled just now. She has been constantly shoogling and also has been turning the eggs.
You might have a surprise to wake up to Karen.
23:08 Maya rises
has the shell split
I need Maya to rise again to see if it has or if that is nesting material
Maya is still, no more shoogling about or turning the eggs which has me thinking that #2 has hatched.
YES - #2 has hatched
Welcome little one
Note:
15/5 - it is the THIRD egg that has hatched at 35 days.
(Eggs #1 and #2: One egg was removed by Maya and the other remains in the cup unhatched)
