April saw Blue LJ2 (18) pair with a new female, Blue 372 (21), with his first mate, Blue LM6 (18) sadly not returning this year. They raised 2 chicks in 2022 and 2023 and had formed a good partnership.
As a 3 year old, this is Blue 372’s first year of breeding. She was translocated to Poole Harbour in 2021 from a Scottish nest. She returned in 2023 and teamed up with Blue 416. They actually intruded at Llyn Brenig then and found themselves a nest elsewhere on private land in Wales. However, this year, Blue 372 chose the Llyn Brenig nest and LJ2 as her mate. Blue 416 did intrude here and try to take Blue 372 back. She stuck to her choice though and Blue LJ2 courted her and they became a couple. A lot of new experiences for Blue 372 this year but she is handling everything well and still doing her own thing ie catching fish if need be!
This is never ending! It sounded like LJ2 was making skydancing calls whilst chasing Blue432 with his fish in tow.
LJ2 could then be heard chipping. All sorts of noises coming from our Brenig birds!
18.30 However, Blue 432 did land on the nest for a 4th time.
18.32 372 then got divebombed by Blue 432.

Glider said:It’s a female (21) from Kielder, nest 6. Eshells. She returned to the UK as a 2 year old as well. She’s a month too late for this nest as we have our own lovely 3 year old in residence now
Wonderful news to see 432(21) Eshells. I'm sure Jaydee and all at Kielder are delighted to know that she's back! Let's hope she moves on though, so LJ2 and 372 can get on without anymore disturbance
.
Empty nest at the moment
IMAGICAT
I know Scylla, it’s turned quite ugly. 372 was divebombed about 3 times by Blue 432 and on one occasion, Blue 432 made contact with her talons. 372 flew off the nest at 18.40. I got a phone call in the middle of it so am still on scrollback but it’s going on and on.

How dare people?!
The eggs haven't been incubated since about 18:37 - just as well it's a warm evening.
I thought that too about it being warm but I’ve skipped to real time and it’s dark and the eggs are still sitting alone.

I thought it was wonderful to begin with too Sandra but I’ve changed my mind.
So this was when 372 was dived bombed and contact was made.
Blue 432 landed on the nest
She darted off when 372 came flying in
18.56 372 was chipping and watching as Blue 432 came back again
372 quickly dived off the side
No peace for the Ospreys this year ... maybe more nests are needed to cope with breeding/return successes? Just like the Peregrines, lots more fights over established nest sites!
EDIT: LJ2 landed on the tower perch and ate some of his fish before he came to the nest.
