(I am starting a new thread for April because, for sad personal reasons, Korky cannot be with us until further notice so the March title cannot be edited.)
Please read Korky's comprehensive March 2024 intro.
Asha and Brodie
Last year they arrived on 04 and 14 April respectively.
The end of the 2023 season was marred by the aggressive intrusion of BlueKL5 "Klive" (thank you, Fergus). We have no idea if the 2 youngsters were fit to migrate.
We haven't heard anything from HQ but it appears that the cams are not quite ready, despite snaps being posted to Facebook 10 days ago together with a query about the lack of IR for the third year in a row - and the streaming is unsteady and unreliable. When LG issued a warning about a delay to the opening of the season, it seemed to refer only to the Visitor Centre.
The PTZ now
Quote RSPB YT Channel: When the Loch Garten Nature Centre opens on April 15th, this camera is controlled by the centre staff during work hours, so please be gracious if you find it staring at an empty tree! The birds react quicker than the staff are sometimes able.

What great news! A super zoomed pic, Richard, thank you!
According to chat, Blue 154(f) was seen at the nest last season on 14.4.23
Possibly a female, and she(?) was seen at Loch Garten on 14/4/23, according to the UK Osprey web site.
Oops, sorry to repeat your second sentence, Sandra, I didn't spot it before I posted my reply to Richard's post.
This is good news, they are at LG.
We can still have our guess for when Asha will arrive, time, date, fish or no fish. Come on have a go, someone may be right!!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
1450 and we now have an Unringed visitor, Ospreys are a lot like buses, they all appear at once

Ok here goes, 08:52 on the 10th without a fish!

No problem, Nellie!
I am delighted to see we have another safe migration in the shape of Blue 154, even if she was heading further afield.
I haven't been able to check the cam, but could one of the unringed males be Brodie? He was fairly dark, and could be confused as a female.
Let the LG season officially begin!!

Great news to see some Osprey life on the LG nest! Thanks to all for reports and snaps - esp to RICHARD for the ring-zoom, which I've zoomed a bit more and sharpened and included it in the video but not credited you !!! I so miss the old UHD display at times like this.

I'm sticking my neck out and saying that this wasn't Brodie, but am open to contradiction! (As always!)
We didn't get a really good look at him tho:
No more visitors as at 23:00.
Thanks for the videos Scylla!
Brief visit from an osprey which left at 7:05 - couldn’t tell if it was 1 of yesterday’s birds.
Over to someone with more expertise than me on video capture!
