(I am starting a new thread for April because, for sad personal reasons, Korky cannot be with us until further notice so the March title cannot be edited.)
Please read Korky's comprehensive March 2024 intro.
Asha and Brodie
Last year they arrived on 04 and 14 April respectively.
The end of the 2023 season was marred by the aggressive intrusion of BlueKL5 "Klive" (thank you, Fergus). We have no idea if the 2 youngsters were fit to migrate.
We haven't heard anything from HQ but it appears that the cams are not quite ready, despite snaps being posted to Facebook 10 days ago together with a query about the lack of IR for the third year in a row - and the streaming is unsteady and unreliable. When LG issued a warning about a delay to the opening of the season, it seemed to refer only to the Visitor Centre.
The PTZ now
Quote RSPB YT Channel: When the Loch Garten Nature Centre opens on April 15th, this camera is controlled by the centre staff during work hours, so please be gracious if you find it staring at an empty tree! The birds react quicker than the staff are sometimes able.
IMAGICAT
Very disappointed she was not on time!
The 9 minute late female on nest looking up expectantly.

From Chat
10:02 The RSPB Morning all! Happy to confirm Asha is on the nest. We believe it was Brodie who made a brief visit yesterday as well

10.23 she means business. She has brought in a large sticky stick after she brought in a few twigs. No sign of Brodie at the mo.
After an amusing five minutes or so of deciding where this unhelpful stick should lie, she left again, and brought back a shorter non-sticky stick. Much easier to lay down.

A hasty snap before I pack up:
A beautiful capture, Scylla

Oh, I know Scylla, let's wait for the comment!!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Cracking photo Scylla
I knew it!! We will have to have words with her and asked her to be on time next year then!!
11.07 an osprey landed on the old nest, with a large fish. In reality not much is left of the old nest, just the framework, and the osp is on the right side at the top of the cam frame.
11.44 the osprey is still there. PTZ is still fixed on the nest.
11.46 Osprey seen on cam frame flew, and Asha landed with a fish,. She looked around for a minute or two and flew off
11.56 ENS
She flew back to the old nest frame.
