Alyth is located in Perth and Kinross on the east coast of Scotland. The Osprey nest is at the Alyth SSEN Transmission sub station and is the tallest of all the nests on camera in the UK.
Background information:-
The Ospreys have nested at the site for many years since around 1990.
They were nesting on a nearby electricity tower, but due to a planned expansion of the site a decision was taken to resite the old nest to a specially constructed 25-metre nesting tower and two nearby 8.5 metre resting perches, which were erected in 2014. Advice was sought from Roy Dennis.Since that first breeding season in 2014, a total of 17 osprey chicks have been observed to have fledged from the new site.
Due to the height of the tower, no ringing can take place.
The resident ospreys are called Harry and Flora (blue HK0), named by a local school in Alyth. All pupils were also given their own osprey soft toy as a thank you from the teams for getting involved and for showing such enthusiasm about the ospreys.
In 2023 Flora HK0 arrived on 30th March and Harry on 4th April. Together, they successfully raised three chicks to fledging.
Flora was last seen on 10th August and Harry 7th September. (The camera stream was offline from 13- 23 August)
Thank you Richard for initial information which I’ve edited to include last year’s figures.

SADLY, ONE CHICK DIED ON THE NEST ON 30/05/24
LIVE STREAM WAS DOWN FOR OVER TWO WEEKS FROM MAY 31. WHEN IT RETURNED, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THERE WAS ONLY ONE CHICK REMAINING ON THE NEST.
The CHICK FLEDGED on 26/07/24
MIGRATION
Flora and the juvenile left at some point before the end of August when the live stream was down. (12-22 August)
However, I suspect it may have been the 21st August that the last one (or both) left as Harry was seen on the nest on the 22nd with a fish.
Harry was around for a few days after, seen on the 26th August and probably it was him on the 30th as well, which would have been his last sighting.

How tragic !!! I started downloading too late for Harry or the Yellowhammer, boohoo.
Here's a little vid of the Starlings, they were in 'n out all day (once I got started):
.27 August
Harry not seen this morning up to 09:18 - only 2 sopping wet corvids foraged, one at a time.
IMAGICAT
Good morning Scylla, the starlings were a delight, thank you.
No Harry today, just the juvenile starling who paid many visits throughout the day.
I think it likes the view!

I should have posted this yesterday so I wonder if it's in the wrong thread somewhere

Thanks Scylla, I do like starlings. It’s interesting that the juvies stick together after fledging.
BTW your video appeared on the Brenig thread!
It looks like Harry has migrated. It’s been an easier year for him this year with only one chick to feed. He didn’t migrate until 7 September last year when the last chick left.
30 August
By Alyth Osprey nest standards, there was a big flock of Starlings this morning just before 08:00 - this is my farewell, I've switched off now (famous last words!):
Sincere thanks to GLIDER in particular for coverage of this nest thru its tech and other difficulties this season.
30 August.
17.15 An unringed Osprey visited the nest today.
17.20 and he left. The jury was out with the chat if it was Harry or not.
I’ve scrolled back many photos of Harry and I’d say it was him, judging by the wing and head markings..

Blooming typical !!!
To salvage the missed visit, I've taken the liberty of using 3 of your snaps for a mini-slideshow for YouTube records
Went to visit nest briefly today but no sign on any of favourite perches either .. hope they have a good holiday .. and back home safe next year … Thx to all on all nests for photos, videos, knowledge, tears andappiness .. what am I going to watch for the next 6 months
So no more sightings of Harry since Friday.
This morning there was a Corvid who stayed for around 25 minutes on the nest.
10.57 10.59 It came down to rest at the side.. A single Corvid, possibly the same one, made a few brief appearances in the afternoon as well.
11.52 A large flock of starlings also visited. They were all gone within a few minutes.
