Well, it's now 2024 and hopefully another successful year for the Poole Harbour Ospreys.
The last couple of years have seen the successful establishment of a nest and raising of young.
Translocated females From the harbour have set up successful nests in Wales also raising young.
Hopefully this year may see the establishment of a second nest in the Harbour area.

Here was the family last year
I hope Alison Copland won't mind but here is a link to a video she has made of the 2023 season. It is a must watch for followers of Ospreys, especially the Poole harbour family

Thank you, RICHARD! Sudden, wasn't it?!
(I only did 2 our of 4 - must do better nest time.)

5H6, aka Bob 4, took his first proper flights today (leaving the camera pole at 15.29 on the aerial cam). So now all four have fledged successfully. What an amazing season so far. Fingers crossed they all now make it to migration.
Well done to all 4 fully fledged youngsters and to CJ7 and 022 for being such good parents. This has been an exemplary nest and I’m crossing my fingers with you Alison that the rest of the season continues to go well.
A fabulous outcome for CJ7 & 022 this season that all four youngsters progress well!

(EDITED to read CJ7, not 022 as originally posted.)
08.43 5R1 was alone on the nest when CJ7 arrived with a fish.
5R1 went to grab it but caught CJ7’s talons instead.
The fish dropped to the nest but 5R1 was still gripping CJ7’s talons.
2 of the brothers arrive.
CJ7 takes off and 5R1 is pulled along
CJ7 manages to break free
5R2 can’t believe his luck as the unattended fish is straight in front of him.
He grabs it as 5R1 is still adjusting himself.
5R1’s wee face. ️
08.44 Now all 4 boys together on the nest.

Great captures thanks Gilder! It's actually CJ7 delivering the fish, she's bringing quite a few now!
Thanks Janet, I should’ve checked! I’ll edit my post.
This came out earlier from Birds of Poole Harbour.
Although it shows there is plenty of interest in Poole Harbour among the Osprey population it should be remembered that Middlebere and the surrounding area has been a regular stop off for Ospreys during the migration periods.
I remember seeing 7 Ospreys several years ago in the dead trees at the back of Middlebere, and this was a long time before the Translocation project started.
