I have just come across a live webcam on one of the Kielder nests! I couldn't find a 2024 thread for Kielder - is it worth including one for this season?

Wow !!!  Thank you, Janni, I'm on it already - tho lord knows I spend more time deleting overflows this season than I do contributing to the general Osprey knowledge Grin

I can't think of anywhere this should be moved, maybe someone else can.  It's daytime only, we'll see how it goes.  When I looked there was a (probable) female sitting in the nest fish-calling.

Thank you very much indeed Heartpulse

On the subject of "Other nests" - I just remembered to check Tweed Valley during its very short "up period" - no Ospreys seen, a squirrel trotted across the nest but I was too slow to capture it.  Anyway, I'm hopefully downloading that too.

That makes 20 streams I've got going, incuding nests with 2 cams and Starr Ranch Barn Owls SoCal with one, till the others are repaired Astonished

EDIT - and that includes another outsider, the Mojave desert garden.

  • Usk Valley Ospreys, a new group with an application for Charitable Status has said Blue 496(21)m is on the nest, but he is not the resident male. Neither of the pair has yet returned. I'm not at home so can't check to see whether I have anything on the young male.

I do remember this nest was announced in Sept last year on Gilestone Farm, nr Tallybont. Tim Mackrill has been advising. They have a cam on the nest but it's for security and science at the moment. They may make it public later in the season.

This is a link to a Welsh Gov document. Being in a moving car I can't copy and paste.

  • On my goodness, Scylla, at this rate, you will never have time to eat or sleep at all, covering and reporting on all these nests. You are probably snatching both already!! I really do not know how you do it

    Kielder Nest7

KX7 and KM18 seem to have a routine set up:

    .

    They also have a blue-ringed INTRUDER !!!

QUOTE KIELDER - We haven't had a view of an egg yet, and won't until at the least a large stick on the nest rim is removed. Even then, the cup may be too deep for insight.

    TWEED VALLEY

No sign of Osprey activity on the grassy nest.  The squirrel dashed across the nest just after I started recording, that was all I saw all day to 19:00.

    Kielder

I only got a couple of hours or so - it looked like a routine period.

    Tweed Valley

The only life I noticed was one or more Chaffies.  EDIT - I only got a couple of hours all day :(((

Incidentally - just checked the Dutch nest at Visarend and it's not good news for the Ospreys:
