  • How are you margo?  do you have news?

  • Good morning original goldfinch.  It was an awful day yesterday as I did not hear anything about my sister.  The reason being she was rushed into hospital late Wednesday evening.  They wanted to operate immediately but she had eaten so they were unable to do so.  She had an operation early yesterday morning and as much of the tumour removed as possible at this stage.  The reason we did not hear anything was because the whole family spent all Wednesday night and most of yesterday at the hospital with her.  She has come through the operation, but had to be put into intensive care as she had started to fit.  She had come round and spoken to all her family but is lapsing in and out of consciousness.  Will be getting further information tonight.  It appears she will be having chemo and radiotherapy at some stage.  Of course prognosis is not that good and we can only hope and pray that she will be with us for a while yet.  As sson as we can we will be off to see her and the family who are trying their best to make it as good as Christmas as possible for the young children.  I must admit it is going to be so difficult for me and especially her immediate family.  I think we are all so shocked at the speed of things.

OH got back from Orpirngton OK but absolutely frozen as heating not working on the train.  He had his dinner and then went out do do some last bits of grocery shopping and so he was absolutely whacked out.  He is at work today but I hope he will leave a bit earlier.  He managed to drop Christmas presents off to my sister who lives near to me but said the roads where she lives are in a very icy state.  The sun has just come out here and I am hoping that it will help to thaw out the snow  and ice that is left.  It is my birthday on Boxing Day and we are going there in the afternoon and I know how nervous I will be in the car and walking from the car into my sister's house.

To all the caring people on this site I wish you all a Very Happy Christmas and New Year.  It is a pleasure always to talk to you and I cannot thankyou enough  for the way you offer such support at sad times.  You are all very special people.

  • Margobird, no need to Reply, but wanted you to know that you, your sister and all the family are in our thoughts at this time. I'm not really a religious person but sending you over the strongest "improvement wishes" for her I have:)

  • Thank you Gary it means such a lot to me to be receiving so much support rom the wonderful people on this blog.

  • Margobird Glad to learn that your sister has had as much as possible of her tumour removed.  What a terrible worry for you and for her family, especially at Christmas.  I'm thinking about you all and praying for her recovery.

Thanks to all for the wonderful cards and photos.  Snow is a bit of a nuisance but very picturesque.  I've managed to get my car out over the last couple of days, for essential trips (to collect pescriptions, etc).  Not easy to get it back into the driveway.  Since yesterday a car has been abandoned directly opposite our gate and, despite having 'excavated' the wheel tracks into the driveway, I had 3 attempts before I finally made it - could't get a straight run at it.  I think OH is very frustrated because his disability prevents him from helping.  We normally have Christmas Day with sister and B-i-L but Oh couldn't make it to and from the car in this weather so we'll just be at home alone.  Turkey, ham and stuffing ready prepared by our butcher (I bought it and froze it as an emergency measure.  I'll do sprouts, carrots and roast potatoes and will make lemon tiramisu instead of Christmas pud.

Hope everyone will have a lovely Christmas.  Here's a card which I hope you'll all like. (Oops - not working.  I'll have to try again later.)

HELP! I made the card using Hallmark car maker software - can't get it to insert here.  Anyone got any  suggestions, please?
