Hallo all. Hasn't stopped raining here all day - two more days of it - BUT the weather in the UK has been making headlines on the radio and telly! Will catch up with chat later.
Margobird: I have just read your news. I am so very sorry about your sister's condition. My thoughts are with you at this time.
evening/morning everyone.
Been keeping up to date but not posting for the last day or so. Thanks for all the news. Too much to comment on at the moment but want to wish everyone a a very happy christmas. As well as Mother in Law, we will have , for a couple of days, OH's 2nd cousin. She is working in NY and would have been on her own so she's coming to stay. We met her in the summer and is lovely.
To answer OG and Terry, I am a kentish Man. I was only teasing about the accent. There is a well known TV advert over here with a talking gecko and I've been likened to that!!
Wishing as good news as possible for Margobird:) (Diane, beautiful flower)
Enjoyed all the other news.
Happy Christmas eve everyone
Hi, all. Have been busy, and I haven't checked in for a couple days. I've just read your news and enjoyed your chat and photos. Will try to catch up a bit.
Gary and OG: Loved the puppy pics. Ahhh. They melt my heart.Gary: I hope you enjoy your time with visiting family. I'll always smile at the gecko adverts now and think of you! :-)Alan: I was sorry to hear about the young boxer. I had a boxer, and they are perfect dogs. I loved mine dearly. Hope Hamish enjoys his new coat.Paul: Glad the Robin visited the new shed. Great photos you posted!Wendy B: I enjoyed your snowy and icy photos. Very beautiful.Sue C: I hope you see the waxwings!Cirrus: Glad to see you. Hope your life is now returning to normal. Sounds like you've had quite a hard time.dibnlib: So happy you are free of the stookie. Did you dance in the forest for the winter solstice? :-)))
Terry: I'm glad you got to see the moon's eclipse. We had a winter storm that night, and I couldn't see it. Darn!!! Hope you're enjoying your holiday time off!!! Sounds to me like you did the absolute right thing for the sparrowhawk. Good for you. Funny you should mention Annette's accent, I've always wondered whether she has an English, an Irish, or an American accent.Lynette: Hi to you! To answer your question to me: Yup, I do all of my own house renovations. Can't afford to pay someone to do it for me, so have had to teach myself to do it. :-)))ChrissyB/Alan: Oh, my stars, an earthquake! Hope there wasn't any damage. We've only had a couple of sizeable ones in my lifetime, but they make me uneasy.George: I hope the heating stays on and that you get your boiler problems resolved very soon!Patricia: I hope you're no longer snowed in and the weather and driving conditions are improving there.
Joan: That was a wonderful Christmas card you made. Well done!!! Our great horned owls should begin nesting soon; I'll let you know if I see them.AQ: Congrats on getting the new printer. I hope it proves to be a good one. I forgot to wish you a happy Summer Solstice. Sorry. I hope your season isn't too unbearably hot this year and you don't have any fires. Hope the chocolate pie finally set up properly. Enjoy your holiday!Lindy: Glad you were able to get the oven repaired quickly. Fantastic sunrise pics you posted!!! Your Christmas poem is just lovely. Brilliant!!! You're so talented!!! Sounds like you will have a relaxing Christmas day. That's the best kind.Brenda: I hope your travels have been safe and you're enjoying your visit.Auntie: I hope you will get some time off over the holidays. I know nurses have to work many holidays. Enjoy yourself!
Hello to Tiger and Chloe, wherever you are! Did you see the lunar eclipse? There will be a solar eclipse on January 4 with the new moon.
OG: Such beautiful bird photos! Thank you for posting them. Glad you made it safely to your doctor for your injection. Hope it's helped you. Also hope that your son soon receives his job seekers' allowance and housing benefit, too!!! Glad you'll be able to see him for the holidays. Your Christmas card is absolutely wonderful!!! Your holiday flowers do sound lovely. Enjoy your time with family.
Annette: Your weather has been on the national news and the local news for days. That's horrific! Very strange and unexpected events there. Hope you're still okay and you aren't in any danger from the flooding, mudslides, etc. We're getting a winter storm tomorrow and Saturday, as a result of all that moisture coming across the country, but the worst of it will flow south of us, so no worries here. Good luck holding back the ant army. They are pesty and persistent little beasties. So glad that you had a nice visit with your friends. I hope you have a truly wonderful visit with your family!!!
Everyone: Have a glorious and safe holiday!!!
Linda Great Osprey Christmas poem.
It’s just gone 4.45 pm C'mas Eve. Turkey is carved & in foil in the fridge. I scooped out most of choc cream pie filling, doctored it with gelatine, put it back and it has now set. Phew! The tomatoes stuffed, zucchini rice ready, one table set. (OH began early vacuuming, by 9.20 am he was asking if it was lunchtime yet. LOL) All I have to do this eve is prepare "Stella’s" Xmas pudding (it needs to brood overnight) and take myself to Midnight Mass. Not the outdoor one, nor the one at 10 pm. A real midnight!!!!
I hope EVERYONE has a very Merry Christmas and all your wishes come true. May the sick and injured regain their health. This is my wee Christmas tree on the piano (because I haven’t had time for the big one).

Oh my goodness AQ - Christmas Eve there already - you'll have your feet up and be recovering nicely by the time all heck breaks loose here. Just finished wrapping stuff - came to last item (toasty robe/dressing gown depending on where you are) for daughter to find store security tag still firmly attached, printed with warning not to force it off or ink and glass will destroy life as we know it. Didn't go off when I exited the store - about as effective as our TSA airport screening personnel who are so busy patting down folks they miss guns in computer cases!!! So must whizz off to Macy's first thing to have them take it off; then home to wrap it. Wonderful. Just what I need.
Rain was bad here but no damage locally; with luck the soil will dry out in time for Easter.
Will try to look in in the morning. Hugs to all - you're such a nice bunch of folks! (Oh, and my accent is what they call mid-Atlantic, which means it fades in and out, depending.)
Morning, Everyone! & Happy Christmas Eve!
Sorry, AQ - don't mean to offend, but I did have to laugh when I saw your teeny, tiny Christmas tree! - its the thought that counts! When we moved house about 7 years ago, it was to be just after Christmas, so I didn't get out all the decorations as we were packing to move, & we had a wooden gold & glittery Christmas tree on the sideboard instead. The childrens faces were a picture when they walked in! (& they were in their late 20's!)
Annette: How annoying for you to have to go back to the shop - there's always something you didn't plan for, in all the preparations.
Off I go now - lots to do of course, floors to clean, stuffing to make, logs to cover in chocolate - & where on earth did we put the Christmas mugs away?? See here later for the answer to that! Have a Good Day, All.
EDIT: If I didn't say so before, thanks to All for all your good wishes!
WENDY Used to live at Mosstodloch in the early 80s and often walked at Spey Bay. Very happy memories.
Morning all and HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVE,
Thanks for all the chat and pics.
Weather is bright today with temp at -0.2c. Slight thaw yesterday then re froze at night.
Not a lot planned for today so we will see what develops. Hamish has worn his coat a couple of times. Its a bit tricky getting it on him but once its on he seems ok with it.
There were raccoon dogs on the Estonian forest webcam last night. I took this from the Estonian forum:
All the way from West Africa. I hope this link works:
