HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Have a good week, all!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Whilst waiting for the football to start I thought I would do a bit more of my travelogue. I think I am feeling a bit better today although my head is still very stuffed up and I am still coughing and sneezing. I intend to take another test tomorrow.
So, on the first full day we had a “wee walk” in Kyleakin to see the ruins of the castle there.
We then set off for Dunvegan Castle. We were so lucky as the weather was gorgeous and on the drive we saw the red and black Cuillins. They are different geologically and therefore have weathered into different shapes. The reds are smooth topped and the blacks a more jagged. That is very simplistic but it gives you an idea.
We visited the interior of the castle first. Home of the MacLeods for 800 years. They had some interesting pieces there including a lock of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Hair (!) but, frankly, we were more interested in the lovely gardens. So, after lunch in their very efficiently run cafe, we walked round the gardens. Water Garden, Walled Garden, Round Garden. They were all lovely.
