July proved to be a less nail-biting month than June. Brodie re-appeared early on the 1st and delivered fish (including flounder) to the nest every day bar 1 thereafter, with a record count of 7 on the 21st. Asha also fished and delivered a salmon on the 3rd, as well as quite a few sticks, not least one to replace the sticky-up stick on the nest that got removed on ringing day - 12th July. We have 2 boys, as only 7% of those surveyed had predicted. 2C5 (oldest) became Sid (Vicious) and 2C4 (youngest) is Harry (Nilsson). We had some cracking snaps particularly from the PTZ camera, a 2am fish, self-feeding started, and wing-flapping and helicoptering. Bets are on for a fledge or two very early in August. Sid is 58 days and Harry 56 days on the 1st of August

Trying to think of pluses and minuses, I vote that you save up the stats and we'll post them at the end of this thread, ie at the end of the season. We don't have a Boss here, and some of you can see more angles than I can, so let's wait for others' opinions.

Just now our two boys were standing side by side facing us (PTZ cam) and I so wished we could have a zoom. (Maybe KL5 or similar was in the area, they seemed to be shouting a lot.)

Good for the boys, sorting out KL5. They were not giving him a chance to land!
I would agree with Scylla Canauck, report the numbers at the end ofthe season, that way we have it all in one place.
Could not see anything on the camera zoom to the ground, either Scylla.

Don't quote me, but I think that KL5 has been intruding again, may have been on the campost and was chased off by a juve, who is now back on the nest.
I'm trying to work out when/how this happened - 2C4 was about to fly off, only 2C5 currently on nest.

I tried to summarize it on the chat. I may have missed stuff. 19:11 looks like the start of it all when 2C4 comes to the nest 19:11:35 KL5 attacks 2C4 on the nest and then KL5 hops to the cam perch. 19:15 50 KL5 leaves perch to fly to dead tree. Followed by 2C4 who quickly returns to the nest 19:19:25 KL5 flies to the nest and lands. 2C4 flaps him off. 19:24 dog fight in the air. Holy smokes!! 19:25:20 2C4 lands back on nest. KL5 circles and dive bombs 2C4. 19:28 2C5 joins in the air battle. Circles and lands on the nest. KL5 dive bombs both boys. 19:33 to 20:09 both boys stay low on nest. 2C4 doesn't show any cut at this time but then at 20:12:46 can see blood when he gets up and turns. Meanwhile KL5 is on dead tree to left 20:14:32 can really see the cut and blood in 2C4's right "arm pit" when he flies off. 20:14:42 intruder O flies off of tree, circles above nest,
20:15:36 2C4 returns to nest and favours his right side.
20:33 lots of blood.
20:34:20 2C4 flies off. 20:50:18 2C5 flies off of nest.
20:55:30 air battle over nest.
20:55:42 2C5 returns to nest.

21:24:43 Can see an O flying the background and then it dive bombs the boys on the nest
21:33 Both boys leave nest.
19:25:16 ts may have been the point of contact in the air between 2C4 and intruder where 2C4 gets injured.
The Identification of KL5 is an assumption based on an ID of it harassing the nest earlier today at 08:59 and at noon. Also Valerie refers to the intruder as KL5.
