10.43 Flora is back!! That’s just over 24 hours since she was last seen leaving the nest yesterday at 10.07.
Where have you been dear girl?
She brought a fish with her too!
Only one chick went for the fish as one was still eating and #3 ate earlier.
After collecting the fish, the chick lunged at Flora to chase her on.
11.33 The chick with the flatfish lost interest and #3 was able to take it.
12.25. #3 still trying to eat the flatfish. Harry arrives with a fresh fish.
As a chick takes Harry’s fish, Flora appears from nowhere and wants the fish too.
Too late for that fish, Flora turns to #3 (left) and takes its fish
She then flies off with it! How strange.
11.56 Flora returns with the flatfish and feeds the chicks
13.46. #2 or #3 doing great helicoptering 4-5 seconds in the air.
There’s been an intruder around this afternoon. 14.18 Flora flew to the nest to defend with her chicks.
15.39 The intruder came closer just over an hour later, it is unringed.
15.51 Harry arrived with another flatfish
Flora managed to take it.
She flew off with it.
16.14 Flora returned with what was left of the flatfish.
She allowed a chick to take it.
19.37 Fish brought in by Harry
Flora was on the nest but Harry landed next to #1 chick
The chick took the fish straight away
#1 mantled to protect the fish
Flora pecked and flapped Harry off the nest
Flora kept looking at the fish, she had really wanted it
19.45 After not getting an opportunity to take the fish, Flora flew off
#1 enjoyed the fish
And walked away from the straggly tail end at 21.19
The chick nearest to #1 spotted the skin and went over to claim it.
#1 flew off leaving #2 and #3 on the nest.
The chick with the skin pulled and pulled at it. I think it might be #3, who as usual has had the least to eat today.
It finally managed to swallow it
Better than nothing when you’re hungry.
It then settled down beside its sibling for the night.
