Egg No. 1 laid 20 April - Hatched 27 May (37 days)
Egg No. 2 laid 23 April - Hatched 29 May (36 days)
Egg No. 3 laid 26 April - Hatched 1 June (37 days) Sadly, this little chick died on 3rd June. It coincided with LJ2 having a leg injury and unable to fish at the time. I don’t know if this was the sole reason, part of the reason or something else. RIP little one
The family of 5 for a couple of days. Bob 3, RIP, in between #1 and #2

08.50 When Mari left the nest, she flew to the preening perch where LJ2 was sitting.
He saw she was coming in too close and swerved backwards and flew to avoid a full collision.
but came straight back
Mari’s grown an extra set of wings!
09.01 LJ2 glides in for the leftover fish, landing exactly on top
he hooks up and glides back out again
Dilys ate until 09.20 then left her fish.
09.30 My goodness, LJ2’s hungry - he came back for the other fish too!
The nest was quiet after that.
12.20 Someone on the perch.
12.45 Both youngsters on the nest
12.50 Dilys finds a scrap of fish
She gets caught in a gust of wind and lifts up still holding the. Stick she was standing on
She kind of pole vaults across the nest!
13.22 LM6 flies to the nest with a proper meal for Dilys.
Dilys follows her onto the nest.
and takes the headless fish.
LM6 stays with Dilys on the nest for a while whilst she eats.
LM6 leaves at 14.28. Dilys stays for a few more minutes then flies to the tree beyond the nest at 14.34
15.12 She returns to resume eating the tail end of the fish.
15.18 Mari arrives in the nest. She collects the piece of fish that Dilys has discarded.
15.20 LM6 then arrives
15.21 Mari decides to leave the fish and does a vertical take off. It’s really windy on the nest today. Mari lands at the back of the nest
15.23 LM6 takes the fish, the chicks are calling to be fed so LM6 starts feeding the fish with one chick on either side.
What a dreadful afternoon weather wise. The wind is blowing and rain lashing down. Can’t make out much on the camera lens.
17.30 Flora and Dilys are on the nest. LJ2 flies in with a small fish, not that you can see it in the photo.

It doesn’t take long to eat. Dilys left, Mari right. 17.36
17.52 LM6 comes in with a proper sized fish and it’s live.

18.28 Mari finished, it’s Dilys’ turn
Oh wow, I missed that! Dilys was actually eating another fish LM6 had delivered at 18.24. On scroll back, I saw Dilys with the fish and just thought they’d shared the same one!
That’s twice today LM6 has brought the chicks a fish each.
