Egg No. 3 laid 26 April - Hatched 1 June (37 days) Sadly, this little chick died on 3rd June. It coincided with LJ2 having a leg injury and unable to fish at the time. I don’t know if this was the sole reason, part of the reason or something else. RIP little one

21.00 LM6 pays a visit to the nest
Mari is still asking for food and she flies off. A short while later LM6 leaves too.
21.32 Dilys is settled down for the night.
22.39 Night cam on, LJ2 is on the perch and LM6 with Dilys.
Mari flew towards the trees earlier, don’t know if she’s roosting there now.23.43 LM6 left earlier and it’s just Dilys and LJ2 now.
Tuesday 25 July
05.06 Good morning Dilys I wonder where your younger sister slept last night, her first night off the nest.
05.22 Mari (right) flies in to say hello, contact calls exchanged.
They both fly off.
Later, Mari was on the perch, she’d been there for a while. She watched as LJ2 flew in with some moss. 08.06 Dilys flew onto the nest at speed. Mari joined her and they both asked dad for fish. Hopefully he took note then he flew off.

10.28 Two heads on the perch and one on the nest.
10.51 Mari was in the perch, she started calling when she saw an incoming fish!
It was LM6, who has provided the bulk of the fish recently.

She was hungrier as she didn’t get a late night fish like her sister.
Mari took the fish as Dilys watched.

11.47 Dilys was calling as Mari flew off the fish.
After Mari landed, Dilys collected the half fish.

12.06 Dilys was vocalising, delighted to get a share 12.22
12.32 Dilys stopped eating, staring and looking around. She took another bite then stopped again.12.33 Dilys did a wee helicopter above the nest alarm calling. She landed, looked once more then took off with her fish, alarm calling again.
14.09 Dilys arrives at the nest. She must’ve spotted LM6 incoming with her second fish of the day.

14.12 Dilys tucks in with Mari watching. LM6 can be seen on the perch.
14.45 A big pull at the skin15.04 Mari had been sitting on the perch. She started calling and came to the nest. She’d decided it was time for her share!
but it wasn’t to be. Dilys kept eating15.12 Dilys finished off the fish and walked over the nest.
15.13 She feaked her beak on the sticks there.

Mari leaving at 15.15Mari was sitting on the perch when LJ2 landed and went to the spot where Dilys had been eating.
He picked up the fish. It wasn’t finished after all! With Mari ignoring it and flying off the nest, I presumed it had been eaten. Mari spotted the fish LJ2 had picked up and started calling and flew to the nest.
15.16 She kept calling and LJ2 stopped himself from flying off with it and allowed Mari to take it.

16.18 She munched away until she got to the tough skin at the tail end.
16.28 pulling hard to try and break the skin off.
She then gave up, let go of the tail and walked away.

17.58 Dilys on the nest fish calling, LM6 arrives with another fish. She’s taken over LJ2’s role!

LM6 provided a fish for each of her girls.
