Egg No. 1 laid 20 April - Hatched 27 May (37 days)
Egg No. 2 laid 23 April - Hatched 29 May (36 days)
Egg No. 3 laid 26 April - Hatched 1 June (37 days) Sadly, this little chick died on 3rd June. It coincided with LJ2 having a leg injury and unable to fish at the time. I don’t know if this was the sole reason, part of the reason or something else. RIP little one
The family of 5 for a couple of days. Bob 3, RIP, in between #1 and #2
Four weeks later, our two thriving youngsters, #1 and #2 (36 and 34 days as at 01/07/23)

19.48 What a beautiful evening it has turned out after a dreadful morning.
21.41 LM6 looking like she’s brooding the chicks!
23.19 All sleeping.
Sunday 2 July
Good morning LM6 decided to have an early morning preening session and left the nest around 03.20 to go to the perch.
After some final stretching and scratching, she flew back to the nest around 04.40
She collected a long stick on the way.
On her arrival, LJ2 flew to the nest. He had his eye on last night’s left over fish.
LM6 moved her stick into position and LJ2 moved onto the fish
Some nesting material was also in LJ2’s talons as he left with the fish.
05.40 LJ2 returned with the tail end of the fish.
LM6 went over to collect it and LJ2 released his grip.
A little head popped in between the adults and took the fish
It then turned away with the fish
The instinct is there but the chick wasn’t quite ready to be able to self feed and it dropped the fish allowing mum to collect it.
Looks like it was #2 chick
Only #2 went to LM6 for a feed
#1 decided to shift some nesting material and relax
#2 turned away when finished
LM6 approached #1 with a piece of fish
It only took 1 or 2 pieces. Just not hungry at the moment.
LM6 ate a little more then settled down beside the chicks who snuggled their heads in under mum.
09.06 LM6 arrived with a big clump of dried grass
She walks over the chicks as she tries to place the clump.
but gets it settled in behind them.
LM6 has continued to bring nesting material.
The chicks are getting hidden underneath!
11.19 There won’t be any fish arriving soon. LJ2 is currently chilling on the preening perch.
13.04. I don’t think the chicks will be getting ringed today. Still a bit blustery on the nest. LM6 has been on the perch for a wee while.
I think the chicks’ genders will be the same as last year. #1 Female and #2 Male.
Oh my goodness, I missed this yesterday. Taken from Llyn Brenig FB, LM6 spotted a fish from the nest and flew down and caught it bringing it back for the chicks. What an opportunistic moment. Well done LM6
