Laddie had a record breaking fish day on the 15th June, when he brought ELEVEN of them to the nest for NC0 and the chicks to dine on - amazing!

As the two chicks grew, it was clearly obvious - with the difference in size - that #1 was a female and #2 a male, this being confirmed at their ringing on the 22nd June.

NC0 began fishing for the first time this season on the 30th June, with TWO successful catches in one day. Hopefully, both she and Laddie will continue to bring plenty of fish for their growing youngsters to enjoy in a now, harmonious manner.

  • 20:02 A headless fish from Laddie - good grief, pandemonium between him, PF4 and PF5!

    PF4 was on the birch

Laddie, with his fish, flew from right to left behind the nest. PF4 left the birch

PF4 flew from left to right to make her approach to the nest

    Laddie landed, PF4 arrived

The fish was already out of Laddie's talons as PF4 made a grab for it - she took his leg instead!

He pulled his leg away. PF4 noticed the fish

PF5 didn't realise the fish had already been claimed and he too grabbed Laddie's leg

I bet Laddie couldn't wait to leave! lol

  • 20:26 PF5 was waiting his turn

PF4 didn't take kindly to that and flapped him away, making short, deep annoyance vocalisations!

PF4 is still tucking in at 20:34

  • 20:48 PF4 swallowed the fish tail.

  • A headless fish from Laddie at 21:45

PF5 was alone on the nest, NC0 (top) and PF4 were on the birch beforehand

PF5 began to call as he saw Laddie approaching (he was out of cam view on the right at this stage), NC0 left her position on the birch

NC0 was in the area highlighted blue, heading towards the nest as Laddie landed

PF5 quickly grabbed hold of the fish. NC0 was screaming as she flew to the nest

A great block by PF5 (he put his right leg in the way) to deter NC0 from taking the fish

Laddie flew off to the left. PF4 still on the birch

NC0 was shouting, PF4 left the birch

It didn't take long before PF4 made an attempt at a steal...PF5 showed his feisty side and flapped her away before taking his fish to the front of the nest!

He carried on eating his long-awaited meal

  • At 22:17, PF5 had stopped eating, the remainder of the fish was on the sticks to his right. He appeared to be guarding it

His back talons must have still been resting on the fish because, when he moved, as PF4 approached, it fell between the sticks

    PF4 retrieved it

PF4 began her meal from this fish

PF4 stopped eating and walked away

NC0 found the rest of the fish. Time for her to have something to eat too!

NC0 swallowed the fish tail at 22:41

The cam angle changed, NC0 cleaned her talons

  • 22:46 NC0 had made her way to the right side of the nest perch,

She jumped/flapped over to the left side of PF4

    Then turned herself around

    All three preening, 23:08

  • Morning All,

I can't find any fish deliveries as yet.

7:20 It's a beautiful day for PF5 to fledge. He's been jumping/flapping on and off the nest perch several times, will he copy PF4 and take his maiden flight from there?

  • 8:09 PF5 leapt from the right edge of the nest straight onto the perch

He settled for a moment before jumping to the far left of it

8:14 You can do it, PF5

  • 0948 and our boy has fledged from end of perch

    Richard B

  • Oh YAY!!! Thanks Richard!

PF5 made a perfect landing back on the nest a couple of minutes later

    Well done, PF5 Clap
