HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY NEW MOON and HAPPY SOLSTICE!

The moon turns new at 5:37 a.m. Sunday in the UK, and Saturday night in the US. The solstice is Wednesday in the UK and US.

I hope everyone has a joyful week and sees some pretty birds.

  • Thanks AQ and LINDY. I have a habit of blaming myself for things. I was there when OH gave a statement to the police and I got quite distressed that I hadn't realise what was going on. The lovely policeman said "Don't beat yourself up....he isn't worth it." he was right.

Erica has heard that the driver will be sentenced of the 17th

We have had our downstairs loo refurbished recently. Today the final piece was put in place when the the blind was fitted. Very pleased with the result.
  • Enjoy your new loo, Dibnlib!

OG - We've had a peculiar day, too - its quite warm but keeps going dark, and throwing drizzly rain at us! We managed a by the sea walk, between showers, and resisted having an icecream as it was just before lunch. After a salad and a mug of tea, I went to bed and slept solidly for over an hour on the bed!

Now its very damp again. Yes, it's not pleasant when you have a Wet Dog with you in a small space! But she has her own mat to sit on, and soon dries out.
  • Rusty - We've never been to Chirk Castle - it sounds interesting. Glad you had a good day for the birthday treat.
  • Yes, that's just about right, Lindy. I really hate predictive text - it's always wrong!!!

Greetings from a grey and sticky Birmingham. I'm here for a Conference until next Thursday, but the wifi seems OK so I can continue to keep in touch. Ghastly drive - just too much traffic and too many road works. Everything was fine once I reached the M40 - but it took a very long time to get that far. Almost twice as long as the SatNav said it should take. Anyway, here I am and here I stay - until I need to get to Coventry on Sunday!
  • LINDA – Pleased you have a new washer. So much simpler if someone had agreed before all the attempted repairs, but... men!

OG – I suspect the button shop is an old lady’s hobby. Since not many people sew or knit nowadays, it will probably close.

PAT – Glad you arrived – eventually. Safe travels later in week.

Sun tried to shine this morn but the wind was coming off Antarctica. Nevertheless OH went for a walk. It is trying to rain now. Forecast = showers increasing. Showers again tomorrow and the rest of week. Well, it is our rainy season. Friend & I have rescheduled our lunch for Monday. Maybe I should creep out without checking how OH is. . . .

  • LINDY love the autocorrect.
  • Pat - good luck with the conference. Hope there is air con. It’s very humid here.
Lindy - had to grin at the joke. I bet you are pleased you are getting a new washer.
AQ - worrying news about the penguins.

    Rusty’s trans pennine adventure!
Yesterday I went to Leeds on the train to meet up with some of my former school friends. We do this about every 3 months. Those in this country will have heard the tales of woe about the train company Transpennine Express. So, I booked on Northern trains and they got me there. I leave my car in Frodsham Station (a 35 minute drive from here) because it is good parking for only £1.50 a day. I change at Newton le Willows and the Leeds train comes along. We had a lovely meal and great chat and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I checked my return train which I have caught many times before because it goes straight thought to Frodsham (final destination Chester) - cancelled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yesterday Transpennine had cancelled multiple trains so Leeds station was chaos. I was assured that my train would at least go to Manchester Victoria. It too ended up being cancelled!!! Another one was due to go to Victoria in 30 minutes. It was rather tense waiting to see if it actually would. As you can imagine it was very crowded but I am good at pushing and shoving to get a seat - lol!!! We arrived at Victoria eventually. By this time, one of my friends had arrived back in London and another had driven to Nottingham. The normal Chester train goes from Manchester Piccadilly so I had to get a taxi to get me there. It was pouring down. Once in Piccadilly, I bought a coffee and muffin and relaxed because I knew the Transport for Wales train would come. It did!! Back in Frodsham I got in my car and drove home arriving at just after 8. 90 minutes after I should have been home. I was shattered and still am today. I have applied for a delay refund and am entitled to - - - - £5.80!!!!
We have arranged another get together on September 1st. Things will have to get sorted out on the trains before I attempt that trip again though!!!!
So today I have just been to town to do a bit of food shopping and I have tied up my sweet peas. I am afraid the grass is not getting cut!!
